Organizations Filed Purposes: OUR MISSION IS TO ACCELERATE THE ADOPTION OF HIGH PERFORMANCE AND SUSTAINABLE RESIDENTIAL BUILDING PRACTICES. WE TAKE A THREE PRONGED APPROACH: MAINTAINING WELL-ABOVE-CODE BUILDING STANDARDS, PROVIDING GREEN HOME DATA TO THE REAL ESTATE MARKET, AND DEVELOPING AND PROVIDING TRAINING TO KEY PROFESSIONALS.

EARTH ADVANTAGE CERTIFICATION: EARTH ADVANTAGE HOME CERTIFICATION IS ONE OF THE OLDEST AND MOST RESPECTED GREEN HOME CERTIFICATIONS IN THE UNITED STATES. IT RELIES LARGELY ON FIELD INSPECTIONS TO VERIFY COMPLIANCE WITH GREEN BUILDING STANDARDS DEVELOPED FOR USE IN OREGON. EARTH ADVANTAGE HOME CERTIFICATION OFFERS FIVE POSSIBLE LEVELS OF CERTIFICATION: SILVER, GOLD AND PLATINUM, ZERO ENERGY READY AND ZERO ENERGY. CERTIFICATION LEVELS ARE DEPENDENT ON POINTS EARNED AND WHETHER ONSITE RENEWABLES HAVE BEEN PROPERLY PLANNED FOR AND/OR INSTALLED. THE EARTH ADVANTAGE ZERO CERTIFICATION WAS THE FIRST OF ITS KIND IN THE U.S. THE EARTH ADVANTAGE CERTIFICATION CATERS TO BUILDERS JUST STARTING TO BUILD GREEN ALL THE WAY TO THE HIGHEST LEVELS OF PERFORMANCE. IT CAN ALSO BE UTILIZED FOR MULTI-FAMILY BUILDINGS AND SMALL COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS. THE EARTH ADVANTAGE COMMERCIAL STANDARD IS INCLUDED IN THE CITY OF PORTLAND'S GREEN BUILDING POLICY. THE EARTH ADVANTAGE MULTIFAMILY CERTIFICATION STANDARD IS INCLUDED IN OREGON HOUSING AND COMMUNITY SERVICES AND THE PORTLAND HOUSING BUREAU'S GREEN BUILDING POLICIES.LEED FOR HOMES IS A GREEN CERTIFICATION DEVELOPED BY THE U.S. GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL, FOR WHICH EARTH ADVANTAGE INSTITUTE IS ONE OF THE LARGEST PROVIDERS IN THE U.S. LEED FOR HOMES IS TYPICALLY USED BY BUILDERS OF MULTI-FAMILY BUILDINGS, BUT OCCASIONALLY IT IS USED FOR SINGLE FAMILY UNITS AS WELL. EARTH ADVANTAGE ALSO CERTIFIES HOMES TO THE FOLLOWING STANDARDS AND RATINGS: ENERGY STAR CERTIFIED HOMES, PASSIVE HOUSE, DOE ZERO ENERGY READY, EPA WATERSENSE, EPA INDOOR AIRPLUS, RESNET HERS INDEX, AND ENERGY TRUST ENERGY PERFORMANCE SCORE.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT: SINCE 2017 EARTH ADVANTAGE HAS DEVELOPED THE GREEN BUILDING REGISTRY, A SOFTWARE TOOL THAT ALLOWS 3RD-PARTY VERIFIED GREEN HOME DATA TO BE STORED, PROCESSED AND EASILY SHARED WITH THE REAL ESTATE MARKETPLACE. THE GREEN BUILDING REGISTRY IS THE IT INFRASTRUCTURE UNDERPINNING THE CITY OF PORTLAND'S HOME ENERGY SCORE PROGRAM. THE GREEN BUILDING REGISTRY CONTAINS DATA FROM AROUND THE UNITED STATES AND IS USED IN OREGON, COLORADO AND MISSOURI TO GENERATE LOCALLY SPECIFIC HOME ENERGY LABELS.

EARTH ADVANTAGE PROVIDES IMPLEMENTATION SERVICES FOR HOME ENERGY LABELING PROGRAMS. EARTH ADVANTAGE PROVIDES HOME ENERGY SCORE ASSESSOR TRAINING AND MENTORING, QUALITY ASSURANCE OF HOME SCORING BOTH IN PERSON AND REMOTELY, DISPUTE RESOLUTION OF SCORES. EARTH ADVANTAGE PROVIDES TECHNICAL CONSULTATION FOR HOME ENERGY SCORE POLICY DEVELOPMENT AT THE CITY AND STATE LEVEL ACROSS THE UNITED STATES. IN 2019, EARTH ADVANTAGE LAUNCHED THE HOME ENERGY LABELING PARTNERSHIP (HELP) FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS TO HAVE A PEER-TO-PEER ENVIRONMENT TO LEARN ABOUT THESE POLICIES.
