Crisis Intervention Services Lines for Life's 24-hour crisis lines took well over 125,000 calls, texts and chats in fiscal year 2019. People request help for themselves or their loved ones when in crisis or when needing confidential help for drug addiction, alcohol abuse, or mental health issues (including thoughts of suicide). On their YouthLine, youth volunteers (supervised by adults) give their peers, throughout Oregon and beyond, a safe and confidential place to talk about challenges in their lives. Lines for Life's highly trained crisis intervention specialists help thousands of veterans, military service members, and their families through the Oregon Military HelpLine and as a part of the Veterans Administration Crisis Line network.
Prevention and Education Lines for Life plays a leading role in reducing prescription drug (namely, opioid) misuse and overdoses in Oregon. With funding from the Oregon Department of Justice, Oregon Health Authority, Oregon Community Foundation, and the Oregon High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Program, Lines for Life is focused on reducing the number of opioid pills in circulation, improving proper disposal of unused pills, expanding access to treatment, and increasing public awareness of the problem.Lines for Life is Oregon's leading suicide prevention organization. With funding from OHA, Lines for Life produces Oregon's statewide suicide prevention conference. The organization is responsible for Oregon's suicide rapid response program and is tasked with building an online resource center for suicide prevention information.
