Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Native Arts and Cultures Foundation advances equity and cultural knowledge, focusing on the power of arts and collaboration to strengthen Native communities and promote positive social change with American Indian, Native Hawaiian, and Alaska Native peoples in the United States.
Contemporary Native artists offer profound contributions to intellectual inquiry and global dialogue and work at the thresholds of exploration in unfolding creative terrains. They are deepening their impact on the field of arts practice and are forging new recognition in national and international communities. Fellowships and awards foster the creativity of indigenous artists, allowing the opportunity for study, reflection, experimentation, and innovation. During the year, we awarded 11 mentor fellowships.
2020 and the Covid pandemic presented significant challenges to our Native artists and culture bearers. To respond to their needs, we redirected our programming into an emergency fund made available through invitation.
We continued our initiative to provide small awards to support travel and logistics related to the exhibition and engagement of Native artists and culture bearers with public audiences.
