Organizations Filed Purposes: NINETY-NINE GIRLFRIENDS BELIEVES IN THE POWER OF COLLECTIVE GIVING TO CREATE TRANSFORMATIVE CHANGE IN OUR COMMUNITY, THE PORTLAND/SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON REGION. WE ARE AN INCLUSIVE WOMEN'S COLLECTIVE GIVING ORGANIZATION THAT PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR LEARNING AND GRANT-MAKING TO ENGAGE LOCAL WOMEN IN INFORMED PHILANTHROPY AND INVESTMENT IN THE COMMUNITY OF PORTLAND/SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON. WE STRIVE FOR IMPACT BY MAKING SIGNIFICANT GRANTS AND BECOMING MORE INFORMED AND ENGAGED PHILANTHROPISTS.

ENGAGES WOMEN OF PORTLAND AND SW WASHINGTON TO INVEST IN THE COMMUNITY THROUGH COLLECTIVE ACTION.

GRANTMAKING - IN 2019, 480 WOMEN MADE CONTRIBUTIONS TO BE PART OF OUR 2019 CYCLE OF LEARNING AND GRANTMAKING. WITH THE ADDITIONAL INFUSION OF MATCHING FUNDS FROM EMPLOYERS, A POOL OF $500,000 WAS MADE AVAILABLE FOR GRANTMAKING FOR THE YEAR. NINETY-NINE GIRLFRIENDS ORGANIZED AND MANAGED THE PROCESS OF INVITING APPLICATIONS FROM NONPROFITS; REVIEWING 197 LETTERS OF INTEREST TO IDENTIFY PROMISING PROJECTS FOR FURTHER REVIEW; COORDINATING THE WORK OF ALL-VOLUNTEER GRANT REVIEW TEAMS AND A FINANCIAL REVIEW TEAM TO SELECT FINALISTS FOR PRESENTATION; MANAGING AN ONLINE VOTING PROCESS TO SELECT PROJECTS FOR FUNDING; AND NEGOTIATING GRANT AGREEMENTS WITH GROUPS SELECTED FOR FUNDING. OVER 100 WOMEN PARTICIPATED IN THIS PROCESS. CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O.FIVE ORGANIZATIONS EACH RECEIVED $100,000 TO SUPPORT SPECIFIC PROJECTS IN ARTS, EDUCATION, ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH, AND HUMAN SERVICES. EACH GRANTEE PARTNER WAS ASSIGNED LIAISONS TO SUSTAIN CONNECTIONS AND COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE GRANTEE PARTNER AND NINETY-NINE GIRLFRIENDS.EDUCATION - NINETY-NINE GIRLFRIENDS PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES AND RESOURCES TO HELP WOMEN UNDERSTAND COMMUNITY ISSUES AND BECOME ACTIVE PHILANTHROPISTS. THESE ACTIVITIES IN 2019 INCLUDED WORKSHOPS ABOUT PHILANTHROPY, IMPLICIT BIAS, NONPROFIT FINANCE, VOLUNTEER LEADERSHIP GRANTMAKING, AND COMMUNITY ISSUES; LARGE GROUP EVENTS FEATURING PANELS FROM THE NONPROFIT AND PHILANTHROPIC SECTOR PRESENTING ON ISSUES OF HOMELESSNESS AND SOCIAL CHANGE; E-NEWSLETTERS SHARING INFORMATION WITH MEMBERS AND THE COMMUNITY; WEBSITE RESOURCES; AND AN E-MAGAZINE ABOUT THE RIPPLE EFFECTS OF OUR WORK IN THE REGION. OVER 1,200 WOMEN PARTICIPATED IN EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES IN 2019. FELLOWS - IN 2019, NINETY-NINE GIRLFRIENDS WELCOMED 4 ADDITIONAL FELLOWS, PROVIDING LEARNING AND VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCES FOR YOUNG WOMEN WITH SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON CONNECTING YOUNG WOMEN OF COLOR TO ACTIVITIES IN PHILANTHROPY. DURING THE YEAR THERE WERE FOUR QUARTERLY GATHERINGS AND A MENTOR PROGRAM FOR THE 9 NEW AND ONGOING FELLOWS.
