Organizations Filed Purposes:
Peace in Schools supports the well being of young people and adults by offering trauma-informed mindfulness instruction, guidance and mentorship. We believe mindfulness leads to personal and collective liberation, safer schools, healthier communities, and a more peaceful world.
- Peace in Schools served 8 PPS high schools and 2,002 students.- 587 students completed a semester of our Mindfulness elective, the most in-depth,mindfulness-based social-emotional learning course in high schools in the nation.- 1,415 9th graders received Tier 1 SEL support for wellbeing and emotional self-carethrough our in-person mindfulness workshops and online modules at four high schools.- A total of 1,607 students received in-person Peace in Schools programs that supportemotional and mental health. An additional 395 students received online access.- Adapted our teaching to distance learning for PPS high schools during COVID-19.- Provided SEL-based daily mindfulness videos for the PPS community during COVID-19.- Johns Hopkins University published the results of a research study on the impacts ofPeace in Schools programs. It is the first study globally to focus on mindfulness andAdverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in adolescents.- Carried out 15 training events for educators, school administrators and youth servingprofessionals, providing professional development and support to 315 participants.- Carried out 22 educational events (workshops, retreats and classes) for 1,044 adults,offering meditation and mindfulness instruction through Presence Collective.
