Organizations Filed Purposes: THE PORTLAND PARKS FOUNDATION MOBILIZES FINANCIAL AND POPULAR SUPPORT TO ENSURE A THRIVING AND ACCESSIBLE PARKS SYSTEM FOR A HEALTHY PORTLAND.

THE FOUNDATION, A PRIVATE, NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION, WAS CREATED IN 2001 TO FOSTER PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PARKS AND TO CREATE NEW ONES. PORTLAND PARKS FOUNDATION'S GOALS ARE: TO PROVIDE A NEIGHBORHOOD PARK WITHIN A 15-MINUTE WALK OF EVERY PORTLAND RESIDENT; TO PRESERVE GREENSPACE; AND TO MAINTAIN THE CITY'S INVESTMENT IN ITS WORLD-CLASS PARK SYSTEM.

CAPITAL PARK PROJECTS - THE FOUNDATION LED THE PROJECT TEAM TO SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION OF THE BARBARA WALKER CROSSING, A PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE AND AN INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED PIECE OR ART THAT PROVIDES A SAFE CROSSING BETWEEN FOREST AND WASHINGTON PARKS ON THE WILDWOOD TRAIL. LASTLY, THE FOUNDATION OFFERED FISCAL SPONSORSHIP FOR THE ALBINA VISION, INC., MAKING FUNDS AVAILABLE FOR THE DESIGN AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT OF A PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT CREATING NEW PUBLIC OPEN SPACES IN THE ROSE QUARTER.

PARKS PROGRAMMING AND MAINTENANCE - THE FOUNDATION ISSUED GRANTS TOTALING MORE THAN $128,000 TO PARKS PROGRAMMING AND PARK MAINTENANCE: OVER $91,000 FOR SUMMER PARK PROGRAMMING, $16,000 IN SUPPORT OF SPONSORED PARK PROGRAMS LIKE RECREATION SCHOLARSHIPS AND COMMUNITY GARDENS, AND OVER $19,000 TO SUPPORT MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS IN THE INTERNATIONAL ROSE TEST GARDENS IN WASHINGTON PARK.

MOBILIZING PARKS GROUPS AND VOLUNTEERS - IN 2019 THE FOUNDATION CONTINUED TO GROW ITS SMALL GRANTS PROGRAM PROGRAM FOCUSING ON SUPPORTING LOCAL FRIENDS GROUPS WHO VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME TO CARE FOR AND HELP MAINTAIN THEIR NEIGHBORHOOD PARK. GRANTS RANGE FROM $250 - $2,500 WITH A FOCUS ON BUILDING THE CAPACITY AND SUSTAINABILITY OF THESE GROUPS. IN 2019, THE FOUNDATION ALSO LAUNCHED THE GREEN DREAMS SPEAKER SERIES WHICH IS AN ONGOING DISCUSSION SERIES WITH PORTLAND LEADERS ON THE FUTURE OF THE CITY'S PARKS, OPEN SPACES, AND URBAN DESIGN. IN 2019, THE FOUNDATION HOSTED 4 GREEN DREAMS EVENTS.
