STAND COLORADO RAN A SUCCESSFUL AND INTENSIVE PARENT-LED CAMPAIGN IN SUPPORT OF STATE FUNDING FOR FULL DAY KINDERGARTEN FOR THE ENTIRE STATE. IN ADDITION, STAND SUPPORTED THE CREATION OF A FRESHMAN ON TRACK FUND BY THE STATE. FINALLY, STAND SUPPORTED UPDATES TO THE READ ACT (ORIGINALLY PASSED IN 2012 WITH STAND'S SUPPORT) THROUGH SENATE BILL 199 INCLUDING EXPANDING THE EARLY LITERACY GRANT PROGRAM, BETTER SUPPORTS FOR EDUCATORS, STRONGER TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY FOR READ ACT SPENDING, AND AN INDEPENDENT REVIEW OF LITERACY PROGRAMMING.
STAND INDIANA SUPPORTED TWO REFERENDUMS FOR INDIANAPOLIS PUBLIC SCHOOLS (ONE CAPITAL AND ONE OPERATING) THAT PROVIDED $270 MILLION IN URGENTLY NEEDED OPERATING AND FACILITIES FUNDS FOR INDIANAPOLIS PUBLIC SCHOOLS OVER FIVE YEARS. THESE FUNDS STAVE OFF MASSIVE CUTS, HELP ATTRACT AND RETAIN TEACHERS, AND INCREASE SCHOOL BUILDING SAFETY AND SECURITY. AT THE STATE LEVEL STAND HELPED SECURE $100 MILLION IN FUNDING FOR TEACHER PAY INCREASES, EXPANSION OF TEACHER RESIDENCY PROGRAMS, AND THE CREATION OF CAREER LADDERS.
STAND LOUISIANA SUPPORTED THE LOUISIANA BOARD OF ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION'S VOTE ON THE MINIMUM FOUNDATION PROGRAM (MFP) FORMULA ENSURING ALL CERTIFIED PERSONNEL WILL RECEIVE A $1,000 PAY RAISE AND ALL NON-CERTIFIED SUPPORT STAFF WILL RECEIVE A $500 PAY RAISE. STAND ALSO PROTECTED EDUCATIONAL QUALITY ACROSS LOUISIANA BY HELPING DEFEAT BILLS THAT WOULD HAVE ALLOWED ANY PUBLIC SCHOOL GOVERNING AUTHORITY TO ESTABLISH ITS OWN STANDARDS AND ASSESSMENTS AND DECLARE ANY CURRICULUM ALIGNED TO STATE STANDARDS AND THEREFORE OF HIGH ENOUGH QUALITY TO RECEIVE EQUAL WEIGHT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, WHICH CURRENTLY INCENTIVIZES DISTRICTS TO USE HIGH QUALITY CURRICULUM.
