THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE CORPORATION IS TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH STATUS OF INDIVIDUALS LIVING IN DOUGLAS COUNTY, OREGON.
DPHN HAS PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR SCHOOL IMMUNIZATION LAW,EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS, INFECTIONS DISEASE INVESTIGATION AND PUBLIC HEALTH MODERNIZATION. IN JULY 2019 - JUNE 2020 DPHN COMPLETED THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES: MODERNIZATION - WORKED TOWARD HEALTH EQUITY AND CULTURAL RESPONSIVENESS IN PUBLIC HEALTH; PARTICIPATED WITH LOCAL, STATE, AND REGIONAL PARTNERS TO ADDRESS CHILDREN'S COMPLEX HEALTH ISSUES. WORKED WITH TWO OTHER COUNTIES ON DISEASE CONTROL PROJECT. EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS & REPOSNSE - UPDATED DPHN'S ALL HAZARDS PLAN AND CONTINUTITY OF OPERATIONS PLAN; EXPANDED DOUGLAS COUNTY HEALTHCARE COALITION; PARTICPATED IN STATE AND REGIONAL PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE PLANNING GROUPS; CONDUCTED A FULL-SCALE EXERCISE WITH REGIONAL PARTNERS TO INCLUDE FREE FLU VACCINATIONS TO COMMUNITY MEMEBERS. COMMUNICABLE DISEASE - MUCH OF THE WORK FOR ALL DPHN STAFF WAS RE-DIRECTED TO COVID-19 RESPONSE WORK BEGINNING IN MARCH OF 2020. STAFF FROM MANY OTHER PROGRAMS ASSUMED ROLES IN THE INCIDENT MANAGEMENT TEAM AND BEGAN COVID WORK THAT CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE REMAINDER OF THE YEAR. REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH - CONTINUED WORK WITH THE PERINATAL TASK FORCE INCLUDING PRESENTATION TO COMMUNITY SOCIAL SERVICES AND HEALTH PROVIDERS ON DATA AROUND REPORDUCTIVE HEALTH IN DOUGLAS COUNTY. DURING COVID-19 RESPONSE WORKED WITH PTF ON ENSURING FAMILIES FACING BARRIERS STILL RECIEVED RH SERVICES. WORKED WITH AVIVA HEALTH DURING THEIR REBRANDING TO ENSURE PROGRAM WAS MARKETED TO TARGET POPULATIONS. PRESCRIPTION DRUG OVERDOSE PREVENTION - BEGAN DATA SHARING AGREEMENTS WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO ENSURE TIMLEY RESPONSE TO OVERDOSE SPIKES. CONTINUED FACILITATION OF DRUG ALCOHOL RX AND TOBACCO (DART) PREVENTION TASK FORCE. PARTICIPATED IN COMMUNITY EDUCATION AT CONNECTING POINT. TOBACCO PREVENTION & EDUCATION - LAUNCHED "THIS IS QUITTING" COMPAIGN IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BLUE ZONES PROJECT TO PROMOTE VAPING CESSATION RESOURCES FOR LOCAL YOUTH; CONDUCTED TOBACCO EDUCATION WORKSHOPS IN AREA MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS; BEGAN WORKING WITH THE CITY OF ROSEBURG TO PASS A SMOKE FREE DOWNTOWN POLICY.
