Organizations Filed Purposes: ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF SALEM-KEIZER IS AN ALL-VOLUNTEER NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT PUTS CARING AND COMMITMENT INTO ACTION FOR THE BENEFIT OF CHILDREN AND ADULTS THROUGH COMMUNITY-BASED PHILANTHROPIC PROGRAMS.

OPERATION SCHOOL BELL PROVIDES NEW CLOTHING, HYGIENE SUPPLIES AND SHOE VOUCHERS TO HEAD START, AND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN THE SALEM-KEIZER SCHOOL DISTRICT. MIDDLE SCHOOLS ARE SERVED DURING SHOPPING NIGHTS AT THE LOCAL JC PENNEY STORE AND ARE EACH ALLOTTED $130. HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND CHEMAWA INDIAN SCHOOL STUDENTS RECEIVE A $100 GIFT CARD AND A $50 SHOE VOUCHER FROM LOCAL STORES. ADDITIONAL SERVICES WERE PROVIDED TO 775 HOMELESS STUDENTS, WHICH INCLUDED FOOD AND LAUNDRY VOUCHERS, EXTRA CLOTHING, SHOES AND HYGIENE SUPPLIES. A TOTAL OF 3,176 STUDENTS WERE SERVED. OPERATION SCHOOL BELL ALSO PROVIDES VOLUNTEER HOURS AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO THE DENTAL PROGRAM WHICH SCREENED 7,324 STUDENTS. THE SCREENINGS WERE HELD AT 30 SCHOOL SITES.

OPERATION ART ADVENTURES OFFERS IN-SCHOOL ART PERFORMANCES TO ALL TITLE I ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS IN THE SALEM-KEIZER SCHOOL DISTRICT. THREE TO FOUR TITLE I ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS SELECTED ANNUALLY ON A ROTATING BASIS, ARE OFFERED A THEATRE PERFORMANCE FIELD TRIP. SEVEN TITLE I MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS RECEIVE MUCH NEEDED ART SUPPLIES TO SUPPORT ART PROGRAMS. FIVE MIDDLE SCHOOLS RECEIVED SCHOOL PERFORMANCES. MORE THAN 13,800 STUDENTS WERE SERVED LAST YEAR.

OPERATION BACKPACK PROVIDES SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN IN THE SALEM-KEIZER SCHOOL DISTRICT. 2,750 STUDENTS AT 64 TITLE I SCHOOLS RECEIVED SCHOOL SUPPLY ITEMS THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR.
