Organizations Filed Purposes: WE ARE CONGREGATIONS PRACTICING HOSPITALITY TO STAND AGAINST HOMELESSNESS AND SEE LIVES CHANGED, INCLUDING OUR OWN.

THE PRIMARY FOCUS OF FAMILY PROMISE OF THE MID-WILLAMETTE VALLEY IS OUR INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY NETWORK COMPRISED OF 16 HOST AND 25 SUPPORTING CONGREGATIONS THAT PROVIDE OVERNIGHT HOUSING, FOOD AND COMPASSIONATE ASSISTANCE TO HOMELESS FAMILIES. EACH HOST CONGREGATION COMMITS TO HOSTING ABOUT ONE WEEK PER QUARTER. DURING THE DAY, FAMILIES WITHOUT JOBS ARE TRANSPORTED TO OUR DAY CENTER WHERE THEY WORK WITH CASE MANAGERS TO ACCESS COMMUNITY AND EMPLOYMENT RESOURCES THEY NEED TO REACH THEIR GOALS AND PREPARE FOR A SUSTAINABLE INDEPENDENCE. IN 2019, WE PROVIDED 5,612 BED NIGHTS OF TEMPORARY SHELTER AND 12,156 MEALS; IHN PROVIDES TRANSPORTATION, CLOTHING AND OTHER NECESSITIES WHILE FAMILIES ARE IN THE PROGRAM.

THE SECOND MAJOR FOCUS OF THE ORGANIZATION IS A RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM CALLED FRESH START. THIS PROGRAM ENSURES EACH FAMILY SERVED THROUGH IHN, PLUS MANY OTHERS IN THE COMMUNITY, HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO MOVE FROM TEMPORARY TO PERMANENT HOUSING WHILE CONTINUING TO WORK WITH CASE MANAGERS AND RECEIVE ONGOING SUPPORT WHILE THEY CONTINUE TO ACHIEVE THEIR GOALS. STABILIZATION CARE IS CRITICAL TO PREVENTING A RECURRENCE OF THE ISSUES THAT CAUSED THEM TO BECOME HOMELESS. FAMILY PROMISE PROVIDES TEMPORARY RENTAL ASSISTANCE DURING THE TRANSITIONAL PERIOD. IN 2019, 62 FAMILIES RECEIVED FINANCIAL AND SOFT SERVICES THROUGH THIS PROGRAM. FAMILIES COME TO WEEKLY WORKSHOPS ON A VARIETY OF SUBJECTS BASED UPON THEIR INDIVIDUAL NEEDS FOR AS LONG AS NECESSARY TO KEEP THEM SUCCESSFULLY IN THEIR HOMES.

IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT REHOUSING A FAMILY ONCE THEY BECOME HOMELESS. IF A FAMILY RECEIVES AN EVICTION FOR NOT PAYING THEIR RENT, IT WILL BE ON THEIR RECORD AND MAKE FUTURE LANDLORDS LESS LIKELY TO RENT TO THEM. THEY END UP OWING LARGE SUMS OF MONEY FOR LEGAL FEES AND BREAKING THEIR LEASE. IN ADDITION, NOT HAVING A HOME MAKES SCHOOL AND FINDING A STABLE JOB MORE DIFFICULT. BY STEPPING IN AND PREVENTING THE LOSS OF A HOME, WE CAN KEEP FAMILIES SAFE AND SECURE; ENSURING KIDS WAKE UP IN THEIR OWN BEDS. THROUGH ALL PROGRAMS, WE HELPED 411 KIDS AVOID HOMELESSNESS.
