PROMOTE PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE BY ADVOCATING FOR EDUCATIONAL PROFESSIONALS.
Salem Keizer Education Association, SKEA, represents over 2,200 licensed educators within the second largest school district in the state. As a local association, SKEA provides a strong voice for all educators to ensure quality and equitable public education for all students through professional advocacy, member empowerment, and the collaboration of state, community and student partnerships. The SKEA Affirmation states that as an Association, SKEA will unequivocally and without reservation do everything within the scope of our ability to protect all students, their families, our members, and our extended community from any efforts by both individuals and entities meant to harm and prevent engagement and participation in a safe and caring educational environment. Throughout the year, SKEA members volunteer their time to attend or lead professional trainings as they participate in and provide opportunities for the advancement of our collective voice. As an Association, we collaborate with our students, our families and our community, as we unite together to address, the need to dismantle the systemic and institutional racism within our school system, our community and the importance of ensuring a safe learning environment for all students and staff within our classroom and our public schools. SKEA has worked diligently this past year, joining educators across Oregon, to share the essential need for providing ALL students access to a quality, public education. One that provides engaging educational opportunities and growth, within a safe learning environment. We challenged state legislators to appropriately fund our public schools and to support our students and their social emotional learning needs, from preschool through age 21. We demanded a safe working environment for ALL employees. As an Association, we have supported each other, our members and our students and will continue to advocate and to be the collective voice of Salem Keizer Education Association, working together as educators to ensure a quality and equitable public education for all students.
