Organizations Filed Purposes:
Provide shelter, food, clothing and life skills to families facing homelessness, helping them become self sufficient members of the Greater Beloit community.
FPGB provided food and shelter to 16 families comprised of 46 family members. This was a 78% increase over the prior year. In the first three months of the year, shelter was provided at the facilities of volunteer congregations. After March, as a result of Covid, shelter was provided utilizing local motels. The expenses/grants were paid directly to motels. Three meals, including one hot meal, were provided to the families from volunteer congregations each day.
FPGB provided rental assistance to 17 families comprised of 41 family members. This was a 70% increase over the prior year. Rental assistance was provided to families facing eviction or just entering rental housing. The expenses/grants were paid directly to landlords and property managers.
FPGB provided case management services to the 33 families that we assisted with shelter or rental assistance. The case management services listed below assist families to graduate into housing and become self sufficient: 1) Find housing by introducing them to landlords or available housing units 2) Find employment or other sources of income by building a resume and learning how to interview 3) Learn and understand basic financial literacy and household budgeting 4) Understand the keys to being a good tenant so that a landlord prefers them as a potential tenant 5) Find third party child care and alternative options to fund child care FPGB successfully served (graduated into housing or provided rental assistance to prevent homelessness) 26 families. This was a 30% increase over prior year.
