Organizations Filed Purposes:
Our mission is to provide leadership in environmental & ecological education to individuals of every age so that residents of this region can make informed decisions leading to respect for and enjoyment, preservation and responsible use of our natural resources
Welty's main source of program revenue and expenses are field trips we lead for area school districts (Beloit, Turner, Janesville, Milton), preschool programs (Even Start, Head Start) and private school groups (Rock County Christian, Rock County Montessouri). We also provide programming for service organizations (Stateline Boys & Girls Club, Community Action Inc), funded by local granting agencies (Stateline Community Foundation, Alliant Energy Foundation, Dorothy Bigelow Foundation). Most of these trips happen at Big Hill Park, where the Welty Center is located, but Welty also leads after school programs that take place in school buildings (SDB's Todd Elementary, Fruzen Intermediate, McNeel Intermediate). Participants: 6,338
Welty offers nature-themed public programs at its Big Hill Park location and other sites in the Stateline Area (Nature at the Confluence, Nygren Wetlands, Beckman Mill County Park) for individuals & families. Welty also runs day camps on no-school days during the school year, and weekly during the summer in partnership with the City of Beloit (Big Hill Adventure Camp)and by itself. Participants: 2,266
Welty leads environmental education programs on-request for service organizations (Alzheimer's organizations, YWCA) and area libraries. Welty also hosts table activities at various community days, farmers' markets, and special school expos. Participants: 525
