HOSPITAL:BLACK RIVER MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, INC. PROVIDES HIGH QUALITY, COST EFFECTIVE, PRIMARY HEALTH CARE TO ALL PEOPLE IN NEED OF CARE. AMONG THE INPATIENT AND OUTPATIENT SERVICES PROVIDED ARE DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING, REHABILITATION SERVICES, RESPIRATORY CARE, SURGICAL SERVICES, CARDIAC MONITORED CARE, LAB SERVICES, PHARMACY SERVICES, 24-HOUR EMERGENCY ROOM, POISON CONTROL, AND MANY OTHERS. DURING 2019, THE HOSPITAL PROVIDED 3,773 INPATIENT DAYS OF CARE TO ADULTS, PEDIATRICS, SWING BED, AND NURSERY INPATIENTS AS WELL AS 11,164 EMERGENCY ROOM/URGENT CARE AND 17,038 OUTPATIENT SERVICES TO THOSE IN NEED OF CARE. THE HOSPITAL ALSO SERVES AS A VITAL LINK TO THE COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING OUTREACH PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THAT MEET IDENTIFIED NEEDS IN AN EFFORT TO ENHANCE THE HEALTH AND WELFARE OF THE PEOPLE IN ITS AREA. BLACK RIVER MEMORIAL HOSPITAL'S ENDOSCOPY PROGRAM WAS DEPLOYED IN FEBRUARY OF 2018 TO SERVICE PATIENTS IN NEED OF COLONOSCOPIES AND UPPER GI PROCEDURES. WE SERVICED 727 PATIENTS IN THIS PROGRAM IN 2019.IN ITS EFFORT TO ATTAIN THIS MISSION AND GOAL THE HOSPITAL PROVIDES:-FREE AND REDUCED COST CARE TO THOSE WITH A DEMONSTRATED NEED-CARE TO THOSE COVERED UNDER GOVERNMENT ENTITLEMENT PROGRAMS WHICH MAY NOT COVER THE CHARGES OR COST OF SERVICES PROVIDED-HEALTH EDUCATION AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY AT LITTLE OR NO COST TO THE PARTICIPANTSFINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IS GIVEN TO PERSONS UTILIZING OUR HOSPITAL AMOUNTED TO A TOTAL OF $6,450,307 IN TOTAL CHARGES. IN ADDITION, WE FURNISH CARE TO PERSONS COVERED UNDER GOVERNMENT ENTITLEMENT PROGRAMS WHICH PAY AT RATES LESS THAN CHARGES. DISCOUNTS TO THESE PROGRAMS FOR HOSPITAL SERVICES AMOUNTED TO $14,084,678.BLACK RIVER MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, INC. ALSO CONDUCTED NUMEROUS EDUCATIONAL AND SUPPORTIVE ACTIVITIES TO ENCOURAGE THE GOOD HEALTH AND WELFARE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITIES IT SERVES. THESE ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:-CPR INSTRUCTION AND TRAINING TO VARIOUS MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY AND ORGANIZATIONS INCLUDING ALL FIRST RESPONDER AND AMBULANCE RESCUE UNITS WITHIN JACKSON COUNTY-TRAINING TO YOUNG PERSONS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY TO EQUIP THESE INDIVIDUALS FOR BABYSITTING RESPONSIBILITIES-FACILITIES FOR MEETINGS AND SUPPORT PERSONNEL, INCLUDING LEADERSHIP FOR A GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP AND THE BETTER BREATHERS SUPPORT GROUP, INTERFAITH CAREGIVERS (A NON-DENOMINATIONAL GROUP OF CARE GIVERS WITHIN JACKSON COUNTY), PERS (A PERSONAL EMERGENCY RESPONSE SYSTEM AVAILABLE AT NOMINAL COSTS TO AREA RESIDENTS), DIABETES EDUCATION GROUP.-PROVIDING ASSISTANCE TO HEALTH EDUCATORS BY SPONSORING INTERNSHIPS FOR STUDENT NURSES, RADIOLOGICAL, REHABILITATION, AND LABORATORY TECHNICIAN STUDENTS.-PROVIDING CHILDBIRTH EDUCATIONAL CLASSES, THE SUMMER ATHLETIC ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM DESIGNED TO EDUCATE ATHLETICS ON PROPER TRAINING AND PREPARATION FOR SPORTS.-PROVIDING LEADERSHIP TO STATE AND REGION WIDE HEALTH ORGANIZATIONS INCLUDING THE WISCONSIN HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION, HEALTH CARE FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION, NURSE EXECUTIVES, HEALTH EDUCATORS, AND PERINATAL CARE ASSOCIATION TO FURTHER HEALTHCARE GOALS OUTSIDE OF OUR DIRECT SERVICE AREA.OTHER SERVICES WE PROVIDE: BETTER BREATHERS CLUB (FOR PATIENTS SUFFERING FROM RESPIRATORY DISEASE), GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP, CAR SEAT SAFETY CHECKS, TOBACCO PREVENTION. COALITIONS WE SUPPORT ARE: BREASTFEEDING COALITION, BLACK RIVER AREA SAFETY COUNCIL, TOGETHER FOR JACKSON COUNTY KIDS, JACKSON IN ACTION, AND WELLNESS PROGRAMMING FOR AREA BUSINESSES.

THE OUTREACH LAB PROGRAM SERVICES CLINICS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY FOR VARIOUS LAB EXAMS. THE PROGRAM REMAINS STEADY FROM 341,731 IN 2018 TO 407,188 IN 2019.

HOME BASED SERVICES:BLACK RIVER MEMORIAL'S HOME-BASED SERVICES, GIVES PATIENTS WITH LIFE-LIMITING OR TERMINAL ILLNESSES THE OPPORTUNITY TO LIVE WITH DIGNITY DURING THE LAST STAGE OF THEIR LIFE. TOTAL HOSPICE DAYS OF SERVICE PROVIDED TO PATIENTS IN 2019 WERE 5,296.
