CHILDCARE PROGRAM - THE YWCA ROCK COUNTY CHILD CARE PROGRAM OFFERS DIVERSE, SAFE, AFFORDABLE AND CARE TO CONTRIBUTE TO FAMILIES' ECONOMIC WELL-BEING AND THE EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN THROUGH THE FLEXIBILITY OF OUR SCHOOL-AGE BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM, SUMMER DISCOVERY DAY CAMP, PRESCHOOL PROGRAM, AND OUR NON-SCHOOL DAYS PROGRAM. OUR CHILD CARE PROGRAM IS STATE-LICENSED; AND WE ALSO PARTICIPATE IN THE CHILD AND ADULT CARE FOOD PROGRAM PROVIDING CHILDREN WITH NUTRITIOUS SNACKS AFTER SCHOOL TO ENSURE CHILDREN ARE RECEIVING THE UTMOST CARE. THE YWCA OFFERS FINANCIAL AID TO ENSURE FAMILIES ARE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN SAFE, AFFORDABLE CARE.
ALTERNATIVES PROGRAM - THE ALTERNATIVES TO VIOLENCE PROGRAM PROVIDES THE FOLLOWING CONFIDENTIAL EMERGENCY AND CRISIS INTERVENTION SERVICES FOR SHELTER RESIDENTS AND COMMUNITY CLIENTS: 24 HOUR CRISIS LINE AND TEXT LINE, EMERGENCY SHELTER, INDIVIDUAL ADVOCACY/CASE MANAGEMENT AND GROUP SUPPORT, CHILD/YOUTH ADVOCACY AND GROUP SUPPORT, ABUSE IN LATER LIFE GROUP SUPPORT, AND LEGAL ADVOCACY INCLUDING SAFETY PLANNING. DURING 2019, THE YWCA SERVED 1162 PARTICIPANTS, PROVIDED 7,576 NIGHTS OF EMERGENCY SHELTER, AND ANSWERED 723 CRISIS CALLS/TEXTS.
TRANSITION FOR WOMEN - TRANSITIONS HELPS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS GET TO THE NEXT STEP IN ENDING THE CYCLE OF VIOLENCE IN THEIR LIFE. THIS IS DONE BY PROVIDING INDEPENDENT HOUSING WHILE THE INDIVIDUAL GETS BACK ON THEIR FEET FINANCIALLY AND PERSONALLY. TRANSITIONS OFFERS THIS HELP THROUGH TWO DIFFERENT PROGRAMS; TRANSITIONAL HOUSING AT THE JEFFRIS FLATS AND THE ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT CENTER. WHILE LIVING INDEPENDENTLY IN THE JEFFRIS FLATS, THE CLIENTS HAVE ACCESS TO THE ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT CENTER TO ASSIST THEM IN OBTAINING SKILLS TO HELP THEM OUT FINANCIALLY AS WELL AS PROVIDING TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE TO JOBS AND INTERVIEWS. IN ADDITION TO THE PERSONAL HOUSING FOR THE CLIENTS, TRANSITIONS OFFERS CASE MANAGEMENT, CHILD/YOUTH PROGRAMMING, SUPPORT GROUPS AND INFORMATION ON REFERRALS TO OTHER SERVICES. THROUGH INDIVIDUAL CASE MANAGEMENT AND SUPPORT GROUPS WE ALLOW THE CLIENT TO WORK ONE ON ONE TO UNDERSTAND THE AFTER EFFECTS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND CONTINUE TO WORK ON PERSONAL SELF-CARE AND REFLECTION TO ENSURE THEY CAN LIVE IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT. THE CLIENT WORKS THROUGH THEIR PERSONAL MILESTONES AND GOES THROUGH PERSONAL EVALUATION WITH THEMSELVES AND THEIR CHILDREN TO FURTHER GAIN KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS FOR THEMSELVES IN THE FUTURE TO LIVE INDEPENDENTLY. TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR TRANSITIONS, PARTICIPANTS MUST BE HOMELESS DUE TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. IN ADDITION, JEFFRIS FLATS PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE CHILDREN AND BE SECTION 8 ELIGIBLE.
