Organizations Filed Purposes:
TO SHARE GOD'S LOVE BY ADDRESSING THE NEEDS OF CHILDREN, YOUTH AND ADULTS THROUGH PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THAT ENCOURAGE THEM TO BECOME SELF-SUFFICIENT, CARING AND PARTICIPATING MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY.THE ELCA OUTREACH CENTER OFFERS A FREE CLOTHING CLOSET, FREE LEGAL ADVICE, PERSONAL CARE ITEMS, SUMMER CAMP FOR GRADE SCHOOL CHILDREN AND WORKSHOPS. THE INDIVIDUALS SERVED ARE PRIMARILY LOW INCOME AND LOCATED IN THE INNER CITY.
Outreach - At least 1,800 individual clients were served by the Outreach Center in 2019. 517 clients were scheduled to have appointments with our free legal advice service held in Kenosha and Racine. A vast majority of the clients served are low income and from the inner city.
Youth Programs - Over 150 grade school children participated in the summer camp with 22 high school and college students leading the camp. Daily attendance was 90 students. 245 students received school supplies while over 1,065 children received Christmas gifts through the generous donations of organizations, companies and families.
Adult Education - In 2019, there were three adult students who graduated with their GED. Each Spanish GED class averaged 11 students attending.
