Organizations Filed Purposes: THE COALITION OF WISCONSIN AGING GROUPS (CWAG) IS A NONPROFIT, NONPARTISAN, STATEWIDE MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION THAT WAS FOUNDED IN 1978. CWAG'S MISSION IS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES THROUGH: INTERGENERATIONAL UNDERSTANDING AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, PUBLIC EDUCATION, LEGAL AND LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY AND PUBLIC POLICY DEVELOPMENT.

WISCONSIN SENIOR MEDICARE PATROL IS DEDICATED TO STOPPING HEALTHCARE FRAUD, WASTE, AND ABUSE. IT RECRUITS AND TRAINS STATEWIDE VOLUNTEERS TO HELP IDENTIFY AND REPORT MEDICARE AND MEDICAID FRAUD. A MONTHLY NEWSLETTER IS PUBLISHED AND PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS ARE RUN ANNUALLY TO RECRUIT VOLUNTEERS AND BROADEN PUBLIC AWARENESS. WISCONSIN SENIOR MEDICARE PATROL ALSO PROVIDES LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY TRAINING TO RETIREES, LOW INCOME PEOPLE, AND RETIRING BABY BOOMERS.

ELDER FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT PROJECT PROVIDES INFORMATION, ADVOCACY, REFERRAL, AND LEGAL ASSISTANCE TO SENIOR VICTIMS OF FINANCIAL ABUSE. IT ALSO PROVIDES PERSONAL CONSUMER CREDIT ADVOCACY TO RESPOND TO CONSUMER PROBLEMS CAUSED BY FINANCIAL EXPLOITATION OF THE ELDERLY.

THE COALITION OF WISCONSIN AGING GROUPS INCORPORATED'S GENERAL ADVOCACY AND STATE AND FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE WORK INCLUDES AFFORDABLE CARE ACT EDUCATION AND ROLLOUT, PERSEVERING AND ENHANCING SENIORCARE (WISCONSIN'S LOW COST PRESCRIPTION DRUG PROGRAM), PROTECTING CONSUMERS FROM PREDATORY PRICING FROM "PAY-DAY-LENDERS," ADVOCATE AND SUPPORT CAMPAIGN FINANCE TRANSPARENCY FOR INDEPENDENT POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEES AND NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, PREVENTING FINANCIAL ELDER ABUSE AND IDENTITY FRAUD, EMPOWERING LOW AND MODERATE INCOME FAMILIES TO ADVOCATE FOR THEMSELVES, STRENGTHENING WISCONSIN'S OPEN RECORDS AND MEETING LAWS, ADVOCATE FOR TOUGHER ETHICS AND CONFLICT OF INTEREST LAWS FOR ELECTED OFFICIALS AND LOCAL, COUNTY AND STATE GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, AND ELIMINATING "PREVENTABLE MEDICAL MISTAKES" AMONG HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS AND SUPPORTING THE NEED FOR MEASURABLE QUALITY OUTCOMES FOR PATIENT CARE AND FOR PERFORMANCE STANDARDS.
