END DOMESTIC ABUSE WISCONSIN: THE WISCONSIN COALITION AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE (END ABUSE) IS A STATEWIDE, NON-PROFIT MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION OF BATTERED WOMEN, FORMERLY BATTERED WOMEN, DOMESTIC ABUSE PROGRAMS, AND INDIVIDUALS COMMITTED TO ENDING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS AND STRATEGIC COLLABORATIONS AND EDUCATION, ADVOCACY, AND SOCIAL ACTION, END ABUSE WORKS TO PREVENT AND ELIMINATE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. WE TRANSFORM SOCIETAL ATTITUDES, PRACTICES, AND POLICIES BOTH ABOUT VIOLENCE AND ABOUT WOMEN FROM DIVERSE COMMUNITIES AND THEIR CHILDREN. END ABUSE'S MISSION IS: THE WISCONSIN COALITION AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROMOTES SOCIAL CHANGE THAT TRANSFORMS SOCIETAL ATTITUDES, PRACTICES AND POLICIES TO PREVENT AND ELIMINATE DOMESTIC ABUSE.
END ABUSE PROMOTES SOCIAL CHANGE THAT TRANSFORMS SOCIETAL ATTITUDES, PRACTICES AND POLICIES TO PREVENT AND ELIMINATE DOMESTIC ABUSE AND OPPRESSION. END ABUSE IS THE ONLY STATEWIDE COALITION LED BY SOCIAL POLICY ADVOCATES, ATTORNEYS AND EXPERTS WORKING TO SUPPORT, CONNECT, EQUIP, EMPOWER AND LEAD ORGANIZATIONS FOR SOCIAL CHANGE TO END DOMESTIC ABUSE. END ABUSE'S FOUR MOST COMMON ACTIVITIES ARE 1) NETWORKING AND SUPPORT FOR VICTIMS, THEIR FAMILIES, AND FOR PROFESSIONALS WORKING WITH VICTIMS, BATTERERS, AND THEIR CHILDREN; 2) TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE; 3) POLICY DEVELOPMENT; AND 4) EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT. BEGINNING IN 2017 AND THROUGHOUT 2019, END ABUSE INITIATED ONE MAJOR NEW PROGRAM: PRIMARY PREVENTION. INITIAL FUNDING WAS FOR $2 MILLION TO BE SPENT OVER FOR 18 MONTHS AND GOING FORWARD WILL BE $1 MILLION PER YEAR. THE PRIMARY PREVENTION PROGRAM HAS CREATED A SUB-GRANTEE PROGRAM AND PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN.
PROGRAM SUPPORT, TRAINING, AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE: IN 2019, END ABUSE RESPONDED TO OVER 1,465 REQUESTS FOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE. OF THOSE CONTACTS, 70% OF STAFF TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CONTACTS INVOLVED SERVICES TO LOCAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE PROGRAMS. WE PROVIDED TRAINING TO OVER 3,000 INDIVIDUALS, INCLUDING A WIDE VARIETY OF SYSTEMS PROFESSIONALS AS WELL AS OVER 1,000 VICTIM ADVOCATES FROM LOCAL DOMESTIC OR SEXUAL ABUSE PROGRAMS. THAT TRAINING INCLUDED 118 TRAINING EVENTS, INCLUDING CONFERENCES, WORKSHOPS, WEBINARS, AND CONFERENCE CALLS SPONSORED BY END ABUSE, INCLUDING 49 EVENTS AT WHICH END ABUSE STAFF WERE GUEST PRESENTERS. TRAININGS AND MEETINGS PARTICIPATION INCLUDED A BROAD RANGE OF VICTIM ADVOCACY, JUSTICE, HEALTH, ECONOMIC, AND HUMAN SERVICE PROFESSIONALS.
POLICY DEVELOPMENT AND LEGISLATION: IN 2019, END ABUSE'S POLICY ADVOCACY FOCUSED MORE ON PREVENTING THE PASSAGE OF ANTI-VICTIM LEGISLATION MORE THAN PRO-ACTIVE PASSAGE OF PRO-VICTIM BILLS. POLICY STAFF WORKED WITH GOVERNMENT AGENCIES TO ADDRESS ECONOMIC ISSUES FOR VICTIMS, HOUSING, AND JURISDICTIONAL ISSUES WITH RESTRAINING ORDERS.
MEMBERSHIP: END ABUSE PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR NETWORKING AMONG VICTIMS, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ADVOCATES, FAMILY MEMBERS OF VICTIMS, BATTERERS, TREATMENT SERVICE PROVIDERS, AND PROFESSIONALS WORKING IN RELATED FIELDS. ITS CURRENT FOCUS IS TO DRAW COMMUNITIES OF COLOR, TEENS, LGBTQ, ELDERS, AND PROFESSIONALS IN THE DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES FIELD INTO THESE NETWORKS.
