Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Institute for the Advancement of Breastfeeding and Lactation Education, Inc. is a nonprofit membership organization operated exclusively to promote and disseminate knowledge of breastfeeding and human lactation through the education of health professionals and other community supporters, with the ultimate goal of building Breastfeeding-Knowledgeable Medical Systems and Communities.
Breastfeeding Supporter Education. IABLE trained 409 medical office staff, providers, pharmacists, public health nurses, doulas, midwives, home visitors, WIC peer counselors, nutritionists, La Leche League leaders, and health professional students in our Outpatient Breastfeeding Champions Course. 181 people from the same group of lactation supporters were also trained in Kansas using our courseware and registration infrastructure.
Provider Education. IABLE held 3 provider educational events for physicians and other providers. 1099 providers were trained. We conducted 2 webinars on specialized lacation topics and launched a free, accredited monthly webinar-based case discussion series. 1047 people attended these webinars.
Publications. We provide reference materials for Physicians and other Healthcare Providers. This includes The Little Green Book of Breastfeeding Management, and a free mobile app called "LactFacts", based on our weekly blog, which provides summaries of the latest clinical research in human lactation. We launched an accredited online courseware platform with self-paced modules on a variety of breastfeeding care topics, which can be viewed as a website or mobile app.
