Organizations Filed Purposes: OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE COMPASSIONATE AND EFFECTIVE SUPPORT SERVICES FOR INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES. INSPIRED BY THE VALUES OF JEWISH TRADITION, JEWISH SOCIAL SERVICES OF MADISON SERVES PEOPLE OF ALL AGES, RELIGIONS, BACKGROUNDS AND LIFESTYLES, WITH A STRONG COMMITMENT TO THE JEWISH COMMUNITY.

WE HELP OLDER ADULTS AND THEIR FAMILIES NAVIGATE THE COMPLEX WEB OF SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, MEDICAL AND FINANCIAL ISSUES RELATED TO AGING. OUR SOCIAL WORKERS DEVELOP CARE PLANS FOR OLDER ADULTS, PROVIDE SUPPORT IN LOCATING APPROPRIATE HOUSING, AND PROVIDE PROTECTIVE AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT SERVICES. IN ADDITION, OUR CASE MANAGERS ASSIST INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES OF ALL BACKGROUNDS AND SOCIOECONOMIC STATUSES WHO ARE FACING DISABILITY, ILLNESS, HOMELESSNESS OR SIGNIFICANT CHALLENGES. WE ALSO HOST OVER 70 DIFFERENT EVENTS FOR OLDER ADULTS EVERY YEAR. THESE EVENTS ARE FOR EVERYONE, REGARDLESS OF THEIR ABILITY TO PAY. EVENTS INCLUDE THE GOODMAN LECHAYIM LUNCHTIME PLUG PROGRAM OFFERED ON MONDAYS, INCLUDING A KOSHER MEAL, YOGA FROM A CHAIR, AND PRESENTATIONS AND ENTERTAINMENT BY ACADEMICS, MUSICIANS, AND OTHER COMMUNITY MEMBERS. WE ALSO HOST THE LEVY SUMMER SERIES, AN ANNUAL SUMMER BARBECUE, SHABBAT AND OTHER HOLIDAY EVENTS AT MADISON SENIOR LIVING COMMUNITIES, AND A RUSSIAN HANUKAH PARTY.

OUR REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT AND IMMIGRATION SERVICES PROGRAM ASSISTS AND INTEGRATES NEW AND RECENT ARRIVALS TO THE UNITED STATES. WE PROVIDE ASSISTANCE WITH HOUSING, EDUCATION, EMPLOYMENT, HEALTH AND FINANCE. OUR CASE MANAGERS SPEAK RUSSIAN, FRENCH, ARABIC AND SPANISH. THIS PAST YEAR, WE RESETTLED 64 REFUGEES AS WELL AS PROVIDING SERVICES TO ASYLEES, AND OTHER IMMIGRANTS.

THE CHAPLAINCY PROGRAM PROVIDES SPIRITUAL CARE, SUPPORT AND COMFORT FOR JEWISH INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WHO ARE COPING WITH ILLNESS, AGING, LOSS OR OTHER LIFE CHALLENGES AND DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO ANOTHER RABBI. THE CHAPLAIN VISITS CLIENTS IN THE COMMUNITY, AT CONTINUING CARE FACILITIES, AT IN-PATIENT HOSPICE AND IN THE HOSPITAL. SHE OFFICIATES AT JEWISH FUNERALS, MEMORIAL SERVICES AND UNVEILINGS FOR THOSE NOT CURRENTLY CONNECTED TO THE ORGANIZED JEWISH COMMUNITY. TO PROVIDE CONTINUING CONNECTIONS TO JEWISH LIFE, WE HOST SHABBAT AND HOLIDAY CELEBRATIONS AT SELECT SENIOR CARE FACILITIES AND DELIVER HOLIDAY BASKETS ON ROSH HASHANAH, HANUKKAH AND PURIM TO HOMEBOUND INDIVIDUALS.
