THE MIDWEST FOOD PRODUCTS ASSOCIATION, INC. IS A TRADE ASSOCIATION THAT ADVOCATES ON BEHALF OF FOOD PROCESSING COMPANIES AND AFFILIATED INDUSTRIES IN ILLINOIS, MINNESOTA, AND WISCONSIN. ORGANIZED AN ANNUAL CONVENTION THAT BROUGHT IN OVER 30 SPEAKERS TO PRESENT ON A VARIETY OF TOPICS CONCERNING VEGETABLE PRODUCTION, FOOD SAFETY, OSHA SAFETY, TRANSPORTATION, PACKAGING, ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE, AND HUMAN RESOURCE TOPICS. ABOUT 900 FOOD INDUSTRY OFFICIALS ATTENDED THE MEETING AND 130 COMPANIES DISPLAYED THEIR PRODUCTS AT THE CONVENTION.
ORGANIZED AND HELD AN EDUCATIONAL SEMINAR ON OSHA 10-HOUR TRAINING AS WELL AS A WEBINAR ON FIELD SERVICE AUTOMATION. TWENTY-SEVEN INDUSTRY MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN THE TWO DAY SEMINAR, WHICH FOCUSED ON OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY. THE WEBINAR WAS SPECIFIC TO EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE. THE ASSOCIATION HAD TO CANCEL AN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION SEMINAR IN LATE MARCH, AN ENVIRONMENTAL CONFERENCE SCHEDULED WITH THE WI DNR AND WI CHEESE MAKERS ASSOCIATION IN LATE MARCH, AND THE SANITATION SEMINAR IN MAY. EACH OF THESE EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS TARGETED DIFFERENT AUDIENCES, WITH HR AND SAFETY PROFESSIONALS IN THE FIRST, ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGERS IN THE SECOND, AND FOOD SAFETY AND SANITARIAN PERSONNEL IN THE THIRD.
LOBBIED IN WISCONSIN AND MINNESOTA AND WORKED WITH LEGISLATORS AND AGENCY OFFICIALS ON A VARIETY OF ISSUES INCLUDING ENVIRONMENT, ENERGY, RAW PRODUCT, TRANSPORTATION, AND TORT REFORM. COMMUNICATED THE INDUSTRY CONCERNS TO OFFICIALS VIA PHONE/VIDEO, DIRECT MEETINGS, PUBLIC HEARINGS, EMAIL, LETTERS AND POSITION PAPERS. WORKED ON OVER 24 BILLS, 4 REGULATIONS, AND NUMEROUS ISSUES THAT WERE NOT ASSIGNED A BILL OR ADMINISTRATIVE RULE NUMBER.
