Organizations Filed Purposes: SEGREGATION EXISTS IN OUR CHILD CARE CENTERS. HIGH QUALITY EARLY EDUCATION PROGRAMS ARE OUT OF REACH FOR MANY FAMILIES. EVEN WITH SUBSIDIZED CHILD CARE, THE RATES AT MANY CENTERS ARE SIMPLY TOO HIGH FOR STRUGGLING FAMILIES. CHILDREN MOST IN NEED OF QUALITY EARLY EDUCATION ARE NOT ABLE TO ACCESS IT.THE PLAYING FIELD OFFERS THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF EARLY CHILD CARE AND EDUCATION TO CHILDREN FROM VARIED SOCIO-ECONOMIC BACKGROUNDS.

TO PROVIDE EARLY EDUCATION SERVICES & CHILD CARE TO CHILDREN FROM VARIOUS SOCIO-ECONOMIC BACKGROUNDS WITH THE GOAL OF CREATING A MODEL EARLY EDUCATION PROGRAM AIMED AT EDUCATING CHILDREN FROM THE POOREST FAMILIES IN THE COMMUNITY ALONGSIDE CHILDREN FROM MORE AFFLUENT FAMILIES; TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENT EDUCATION, TRAINING & INVOLVEMENT IN THEIR CHILDREN'S EDUCATION.

IN 2019, THE PLAYING FIELD MAINTAINED A LICENSED CAPACITY FOR SERVING 52 CHILDREN. AT LEAST 60% OF THESE CHILDREN RECEIVED CHILDCARE SUBSIDIES. THE PROGRAM CONTINUED TO DEVELOP THEIR MODEL AND SHOWCASE THEIR TRAUMA INFORMED PRACTICES. THE MODEL WAS HIGHLIGHTED IN SEVERAL MEDIA PIECES. WE HOSTED SEVERAL VISITORS FROM THE STATE SEEKING MORE KNOWLEDGE ON OUR UNIQUE MODEL FOR EARLY CARE AND EDUCATION. THESE VISITORS INCLUDED FIRST LADY, CATHY EVERS, LT. GOVERNOR MADELA BARNES, STATE REPRESENTATIVE, SHEILA STUBBS, WISCONSIN DEPARTMENT OF WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT SECRETARY-DESIGNEE CALEB FROSTMAN, WISCONSIN DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES SECRETARY-DESIGNEE EMILIE ADMUNDSON, AND DIVISION OF EARLY CARE AND EDUCATION ADMINISTRATOR, ERIN ARANGO-ESCALANTE. THE PROGRAM IMPLEMENTED A NEW PROCESS OF ONBOARDING NEW STAFF. ALL NEW STAFF ARE PARTICIPATING IN A TEN SESSION ECOURSE ON CONSCIOUS DISCIPLINE ALONG WITH REFLECTIVE SUPERVISION. THIS HAS DRASTICALLY REDUCED STAFF AND TURNOVER AND PROVIDED MORE STABILITY FOR THE PROGRAM AS A WHOLE. WE HAVE CONTINUED TO SUPPORT FAMILIES IN TIMES OF CRISIS WITH OUR FAMILY EMERGENCY FUNDS. WE ALSO HOST REGULAR FAMILY NIGHTS WHICH ARE WELL ATTENDED. IN 2019, THE PROGRAM ALSO PLANNED AND RAISED FUNDS FOR A SENSORY PLAYGROUND WHICH WILL BE BUILT IN THE SUMMER OF 2020.
