Organizations Filed Purposes: THE MISSION OF PROFESSIONAL FIRE FIGHTERS OF WISCONSIN CHARITABLE FOUNDATION, INC. IS TO PROMOTE, ENCOURAGE, AND FOSTER FIRE SAFETY, BURN PREVENTION, AND PUBLIC SAFETY EDUCATION. WE SUPPORT BURN SURVIVORS, FIRE FIGHTERS, AND COMMUNITIES.

TO SERVE AS THE PRIMARY ADVOCACY, EDUCATION & SUPPORT ORGANIZATION WORKING TO BUILD STRONG COMMUNITIES ALL ACROSS WISCONSIN THAT ARE FIRE-SAFE AND BURN-FREE. PROFESSIONAL FIRE FIGHTERS OF WISCONSIN CHARITABLE FOUNDATION, INC. PROVIDES FIRE FIGHTERS, FIRE DEPARTMENTS & COMMUNITIES WITH RESOURCES, EDUCATION & SUPPORT; COORDINATES & PROMOTES PUBLIC SAFETY & COMMUNITY RISK REDUCTION PROGRAMS; SUPPORTS BURN SURVIVORS THROUGH WISCONSIN BURN CAMP, GRANTS & SCHOLARSHIPS, & LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES; & LEADS COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS AMONG PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS, INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS & THE PUBLIC.

BURN SURVIVOR - THE BURN SURVIVOR SUPPORT PROGRAM SERVES MORE THAN 100 BURN SURVIVORS OF ALL AGES, IN ALL STAGES OF RECOVERY ANNUALLY. THE WEEK LONG SUMMER CAMP FOR BURN INJURED YOUTH OR "BURN CAMP" IS A CONTINUATION OF CARE PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES A FUN SUMMER CAMP EXPERIENCE WHILE CREATING A SENSE OF COMMUNITY AND NETWORK OF SUPPORT. THIS PROMOTES EMOTIONAL HEALING FOR KIDS WITH LIFE CHANGING BURN INJURIES. BURN CAMP PROVIDES FOR THE UNIQUE NEEDS OF YOUNG BURN SURVIVORS AND IS PRIMARILY FOR KIDS AGES 7 TO 17 WITH AN EXPLORERS DAY CAMP PROGRAM FOR KIDS UNDER THE AGE OF 7 OR NOT READY TO STAY OVERNIGHT, AND A YOUNG ADULT LEADERSHIP PROGRAM (YALP) THAT PROMOTES LEADERSHIP AND LIFE SKILLS WHILE TRANSITIONING FORMER CAMPERS AGES 18-20 INTO THE NEXT CHAPTER OF THEIR LIVES AND/OR INTO A BURN CAMP STAFF ROLE. THE WINTER LEADERSHIP PROGRAM IS A WEEKEND RETREAT FOR YOUNG ADULT BURN SURVIVORS AND PROMOTES LIFE EXPERIENCE THROUGH SERVICE LEARNING, LEADERSHIP SKILLS, AND LIFE SKILLS. WE ALSO COLLABORATE AND PROVIDE SUPPORT TO ALL 3 WISCONSIN BURN CENTERS, ADMINISTER ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP FOR BURN SURVIVORS, AND PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR BURN SURVIVORS AND STAFF TO ATTEND NATIONAL CONFERENCES AND PROGRAMMING TO PROMOTE FURTHER HEALING, IMPROVE OUR PROGRAMMING AND BETTER SERVE WISCONSIN BURN SURVIVORS.

FIRE PREVENTION - FIRE PREVENTION PROGRAMMING IS AIMED AT CREATING A FIRE SAFE AND BURN FREE WISCONSIN. THE FIRE SAFETY NEWSPAPERS IN EDUCATION (NIE) PROGRAM IS A SPECIAL EDITION NEWSPAPER WE PRODUCE IN COLLABORATION WITH THE MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL (MJS) AND FIRE SAFETY EXPERTS FROM AROUND THE UNITED STATES. MORE THAN 500,000 COPIES ARE PRINTED AND ARE EITHER INSERTED INTO THE SUNDAY EDITION OF THE MJS TO COMMENCE FIRE PREVENTION WEEK OR ARE DISTRIBUTED TO MORE THAN 2,100 SCHOOLS WITH A COPY PROVIDED FOR EVERY 4TH-8TH GRADE STUDENT IN WISCONSIN TO USE IN THE CLASSROOM AND TAKE HOME AND SHARE WITH THEIR FAMILIES. THE NIE PROGRAM SPANS MORE THAN SIX MONTHS WITH FIRE SAFETY POSTER CONTESTS, TEACHER ESSAY CONTESTS, AND SCHOOL VISITS AND AWARD PRESENTATIONS. WE ALSO PROVIDE PROGRAM MANAGEMENT AND SUPPORT FOR THE WISCONSIN SMOKE ALARM FIRE EDUCATION (WISSAFE) COALITION'S STATEWIDE SMOKE ALARM INSTALLATION PROGRAM AND THE WISCONSIN FIRE SPRINKLER COALITION THAT IS WORKING TO IDENTIFY AND OVERCOME THE BARRIERS TO THE ACCEPTANCE OF FIRE SPRINKLERS IN HOMES. WE ALSO ATTEND CONFERENCES, FIRE DEPARTMENT OPEN HOUSES, AND OTHER EVENTS SHOWCASING OUR PROGRAMS, PROVIDING EDUCATION, AND PROVIDING FIRE SAFETY INFORMATION AND MATERIALS.

FIRE FIGHTER AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT - FIRE FIGHTER SUPPORT PROGRAMMING SUPPORTS FIRE FIGHTERS AS THE PILLARS OF SUPPORT IN THEIR COMMUNITIES AND AS AN ESSENTIAL ELEMENT FOR CREATING A FIRE SAFE AND BURN FREE WISCONSIN. WE PROMOTE AND SUPPORT INITIATIVES TO INCREASE THE HEALTH, SAFETY, AND WELLNESS OF FIRE FIGHTERS. WE PROVIDE DISASTER ASSISTANCE TO FIRE FIGHTERS GOING THROUGH PERSONAL HARDSHIPS AND ADVOCACY TO INCREASE THEIR SAFETY AND HEALTH. WE PROVIDE, COORDINATE, AND FACILITATE TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES AND RECOGNIZE FIRE DEPARTMENTS, FIRE FIGHTERS, AND INDIVIDUALS FOR THEIR EXCELLENCE IN FIRE SAFETY. WE SUPPORT INITIATIVES THAT HONOR AND MEMORIALIZE FIRE FIGHTERS. COMMUNITY SUPPORT PROGRAMMING SUPPORTS THE BETTERMENT OF WISCONSIN COMMUNITIES THROUGH GRANT MAKING, PROGRAM SUPPORT, AND COLLABORATIVE INITIATIVES RELATED TO OUR ORGANIZATION AND PROGRAMMING AS DETERMINED BY OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS. THIS PROGRAMMING INCLUDES SUPPORT AND ENHANCING THE GOOD WORK FIRE FIGHTERS DO IN THEIR COMMUNITIES IN BOTH ON AND OFF DUTY.
