PROMOTION OF THE ELECTRICAL INDUSTRY

LABOR RELATIONS SERVICES:THE CHAPTER NEGOTIATES AND MAINTAINS 13 LABOR AGREEMENTS WITH 8 DIFFERENT LOCAL UNIONS OF THE INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF ELECTRICAL WORKS (IBEW), ADJUDICATES ALL GRIEVANCES AND/OR LABOR DISPUTES UP TO AND INCLUDING PRESENTATIONS AT THE COUNCIL ON INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS IN WASHINGTON, D.C. ADDITIONALLY, THERE ARE SEVERAL PROGRAMS ENCOMPASSED IN THE AFOREMENTIONED LABOR AGREEMENTS FOR WHICH CHAPTER STAFF MEMBERS SERVE AS A CONSULTANT TO OR AS TRUSTEES. ALL OF THE AFOREMENTIONED SERVICES ARE FUNDED THROUGH REVENUES GENERATED FROM MEMBER SERVICE CHARGES PAID BY ASSOCIATION MEMBERS AND THROUGH THE CONTRACT ADMINISTRATIVE MAINTENANCE FUND SUPPORTED BY ALL CONTRACTORS SIGNATORY TO NECA LABOR AGREEMENTS WITH THE IBEW.

EDUCATION & TRAINING:THROUGHOUT THE YEAR THE CHAPTER ARRANGES AND SCHEDULES A WIDE VARIETY OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR MEMBERS TO ATTEND RANGING FROM TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT, PROJECT MANAGEMENT, FIELD SUPERVISION, ELECTRICAL ESTIMATING AND OSHA RELATED ELECTRICAL SAFETY SEMINARS. ADDITIONALLY, THE CHAPTER HOSTS A WINTER AND SUMMER CONFERENCE IN JANUARY AND JULY WITH A FOCUS ON EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING AS WELL AS SOCIAL EVENTS FOR MEMBERS TO ATTEND. WE ALSO, ARRANGE AND COORDINATE MEMBER ATTENDANCE AT NATIONAL, DISTRICT AND REGIONAL CONVENTIONS AND CONFERENCES. MEMBERS PAY REGISTRATION FEES TO ATTEND AND PARTICIPATE IN EACH OF THE AFOREMENTIONED PROGRAMS HOWEVER, THE FEES COLLECTED ARE ESTABLISHED TO COVER COSTS AND ARE NOT REVENUE GENERATORS FOR THE CHAPTER. THE CHAPTER PROVIDES AN EDUCATIONAL SUBSIDY TO ALL OF ITS MEMBER FIRMS TO ATTEND ANY CHAPTER SPONSORED SEMINAR IN WHICH THE FIRST SEVEN (7) ATTENDEE FROM EACH FIRM PAYS A FLAT $99 COST REGARDLESS PROGRAM. THIS APPLIES TO FIRMS THAT REPORT LESS THAN 75,000 WORK HOURS ANNUALLY. FIRMS REPORTING WORK HOURS IN EXCESS OF 75,000 PAY $99 FOR THE FIRST FOURTEEN (14) ATTENDEES FROM EACH FIRM. PROGRAMS PRESENTED IN 2019 INCLUDED THE FOLLOWING: WHAT'S THE VALUE OF YOUR ATTITUDE, REDUCING WORKPLACE DRAMA & TRAUMA, COMPLYING WITH THE NEW OSHA CRYSTALLINE SILICA STANDARD, EIGHT HABITS OF HIGH PERFORMING FOREMEN, FOREMAN'S GUIDE TO DEVELOPING YOUR WORKPLACE, ESTIMATING ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION, SALES & USE TAX FOR ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS, TOP HABITS OF HIGH PERFORMING CONTRACTORS, NEXT ACADEMY, PERFORM LIKE THE BOSS, RECRUIT AND RETAIN YOUR FUTURE, PROJECT DELIVERY SYSTEMS, AND PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES OF CONSTRUCTION PROJECT SCHEDULING.

MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS AND MEMBER SERVICES:THE CHAPTER HAS EIGHT (8) DIVISIONS LOCATED THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF WISCONSIN. EACH DIVISION MEETS MONTHLY AND FOLLOWS A PREPARED AGENDA PROVIDING REPORTS ON AREA SPECIFIC PENSION, HEALTH & WELFARE AND LOCAL APPRENTICESHIP MATTERS. COMMUNICATIONS AND OFFICERS REPORTS ARE PRESENTED AND OLD AND MATTERS OF NEW BUSINESS ARE ADDRESSED. MEMBER SERVICES COVERS A BROAD SPECTRUM OF BASICALLY ANYTHING - REQUEST FOR INFORMATION, RESEARCH OR ASSISTANCE ONE MAY NEED IN RELATION TO THE OVERALL OPERATION OF THEIR ELECTRICAL CONTRACTING BUSINESS.
