FURTHER THE INTERESTS, STATUTORY POWERS, AND DUTIES OF COUNTY LAND CONSERVATION COMMITTEES AND DEPARTMENTS AS DEFINED IN WISCONSIN STATUTES CHAPTER 92, RELATING TO SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION; FACILITATE INFORMATION EXCHANGE AS WELL AS TECHNICAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE PROGRAM REVIEW TO SOLVE PROBLEMS AND IMPROVE SERVICES COMMON TO COUNTY GOVERNMENTS IN CARRYING OUT THEIR DUTIES; PROVIDE MEMBERSHIP SERVICES SUCH AS NEWSLETTERS, WORKSHOPS, PROFESSIONAL IMPROVEMENT TRAINING, CONFERENCES, ENVIRONMENTAL YOUTH EDUCATION, MEMBER TRAINING, PROMOTION OF COUNTY CONSERVATION PROGRAMS, AND THE COORDINATION OF VARIOUS MEMBER MEETINGS; PROVIDE INFORMATION TO STATE AND FEDERAL AGENCIES, THE LEGISLATURE, CONGRESS AND EXECUTIVE BRANCHES, AND ADVOCATE FOR SOUND PROGRAM POLICIES AND LEGISLATION AFFECTING COUNTY LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION PROGRAMS; PROMOTE AND ASSIST IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND DISSEMINATION OF UNIFORM CONSERVATION PRACTICE TECHNICAL STANDARDS BASED ON THE LATEST RESEARCH, TECHNOLOGY, AND FI

THE WISCONSIN LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION ASSOCIATION IS FOCUSED ON THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES: CONSERVATION TRAINING - MANAGING THE DIRECTIVES OF SITCOM (COUNTY, STATE, FEDERAL AND PRIVATE CONSERVATION AGENCIES) TO DELIVER HIGH PRIORITY CONSERVATION TRAINING TO RESOURCE PROFESSIONALS; STANDARDS OVERSIGHT COUNCIL COORDINATION - MANAGING THE DIRECTIVES OF SOC (COUNTY, STATE, AND FEDERAL CONSERVATION TECHNICAL EXPERTS) TO COMPLETE WORK ON TWO HIGH PROFILE TECHNICAL PRACTICE STANDARDS (NUTRIENT MANAGEMENT, AND PERVIOUS PAVEMENT) AS WELL AS MAINTAIN THE SOCWISCONSIN.ORG WEBSITE, REVISE A NUMBER OF LESS COMPLICATED TECHNICAL STANDARDS, AND UPDATE WORK PLANS. THE ASSOCIATION'S STAFF LED A COALITION OF COUNTIES, AGRICULTURAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS TO SUCCESSFULLY PERSUADE THE LEGISLATURE TO RETAIN COUNTY STAFFING GRANTS FOR LAND CONSERVATION. THE EFFORTS INCLUDED CONDUCTION OF A SERIES OF STRATEGY MEETINGS WITH COALITION PARTNERS, MEETING WITH LEGISLATORS, AND ENCOURAGING ASSOCIATION MEMBERS TO EXPRESS SUPPORT OF THE EFFORT TO STATE AGENCIES AND THEIR LEGISLATORS. THE ASSOCIATION DEVELOPED STATEWIDE CONSERVATION OUTREACH MATERIALS THROUGH ITS OUTREACH COMMITTEE, PROVIDED INPUT TO AGENCIES AND SITCOM ON TECHNICAL ISSUES, CONDUCTED ITS ANNUAL PROFESSIONAL IMPROVEMENT CONFERENCE AND THROUGH ITS YOUTH EDUCATION COMMITEE RAN ITS STATEWIDE ENVIROTHON AND POSTER AND SPEAKING CONTEST PROGRAMS.
