Organizations Filed Purposes: THE WISCONSIN NURSES ASSOCIATION IS COMMITTED TO NURSES ADVANCING OUR PROFESSION TO IMPROVE HEALTH FOR WISCONSIN.

TO FOSTER HIGH STANDARDS OF NURSING; STIMULATE AND PROMOTE THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF NURSES AND ADVANCE THEIR WELFARE; WORK FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF HEALTH STANDARDS AND THE AVAILABILITY OF HEALTH CARE SERVICES FOR ALL PEOPLE; ADVOCATE FOR WORKPLACE STANDARDS THAT FOSTER SAFE PATIENT CARE AND SUPPORT THE PROFESSION.

WISCONSIN NURSES ASSOCIATION WORKED WITH AND IMPLEMENTED THE DIRECTIVES OF THE WISCONSIN NURSES ASSOCIATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS RELATED TO GAINING LEGISLATIVE SUPPORT FOR ADVANCED PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSES TO ACQUIRE FULL PRACTICE AUTHORITY, SUPPORT POLICIES THAT ADDRESS WORKPLACE VIOLENCE AND WORKING WITH THE WISCONSIN BOARD OF NURSING ON PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE NURSING ADMINISTRATIVE CODE. THE ASSOCIATION CONTINUED TO SUPPORT THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF REGISTERED NURSES THROUGH EDUCATIONAL OFFERINGS THROUGH THE CONTINUING NURSING EDUCATION PROGRAM WHICH RESULTED IN OVER 175 CONTACT HOURS AND APPROXIMATELY 1,550 LEARNERS. THE ASSOCIATION'S ROLE AS AN APPROVER OF EDUCATIONAL CONTENT THAT IS PROVIDED BY OTHER ORGANIZATIONS VIA THE CONTINUING EDUCATION APPROVER PROGRAM RESULTED IN THE AWARDING OF 12,500 CONTACT HOURS AND 92,000 LEARNERS. THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE ASSOCIATION WERE OFFERED OPPORTUNITIES TO PARTICIPATE IN THE WORK OF COUNCILS, TASK FORCES AND COMMITTEES, AND RAPID RESPONSE CALLS. ACTIVITIES FOCUSED ON THE OPIOID ABUSE EPIDEMIC, MENTORING, PATIENT-CENTERED TEAM BASED CARE, WORKPLACE VIOLENCE, HEALTHY NURSE, HEALTHCARE WORKFORCE ISSUES, ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH, AND PRIMARY CARE. THIS LEVEL OF ACTIVE ENGAGEMENT REPRESENTED 16% OF THE MEMBERSHIP. MEMBERS WERE OFFERED ONE-ON-ONE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE RELATED TO EMPLOYMENT, PRACTICE, CONTRACTS AND LEGAL ISSUES. WNA PROVIDED 11 LEARNING EXPERIENCES FOR UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE LEVEL NURSING STUDENTS.
