DURING FISCAL 2019-20, WISYS APPLIED FOR 21 U.S. PATENTS AND DERIVATIVES. WISYS ALSO APPLIED FOR 5 NEW FOREIGN APPLICATIONS AND DERIVATIVES. IN ADDITION WISYS RECEIVED 8 U.S. ISSUED PATENTS. WISYS COMPLETED 3 NEW LICENSE AND OPTIONS AGREEMENTS AND 5 NEW MATERIAL TRANSFER AGREEMENTS. WISYS OPERATES ITS OFFICES LOCATED AT 401 CHARMANY DRIVE, SUITE 205, MADISON, WISCONSIN WITH 10 PROFESSIONAL STAFF. IN ADDITION, AT JUNE 30, 2020, WISYS HAD 9 AMBASSADORS WORKING THROUGH THE VARIOUS UW CAMPUSES ALONG WITH 1 STUDENT INTERN.WISYS ACTS AS A TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER OFFICE PROVIDING SERVICES FOR UW SYSTEM INSTITUTIONS.
PRE-AWARD PROGRAM: THE WISYS PRE-AWARD PROGRAM (PREP) IS A 3-YEAR PILOT PROGRAM LAUNCHED IN JULY 2017 THAT AIMS TO PROVIDE PRE-AWARD GRANT SUBMISSION SUPPORT TO UW COMPREHENSIVE CAMPUSES ON A REGIONAL BASIS. THROUGH REGULAR VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON VISITS, THE REGIONAL RESEARCH ADMINISTRATOR WILL BE AVAILABLE TO HELP BUILD CAPACITY AMONG RESEARCH ADMINISTRATORS AND FACULTY TO ENRICH UW SYSTEM RESEARCH AND SCHOLARSHIP AND, ULTIMATELY, THE UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT EXPERIENCE. THREE "FOUNDATIONAL GOALS" DEFINE THE HEART OF WISYS PREP ONGOING ACTIVITY; EDUCATING AND COACHING FACULTY GRANT SEEKERS, STRENGTHENING CAMPUS RESEARCH CULTURE, AND DEVELOPING RESEARCH ADMINISTRATOR CAPACITIES. WISYS PREP IS DESIGNED TO BE INCLUSIVE, ENGAGING SENIOR ADMINISTRATORS, RESEARCH ADMINISTRATORS, AND FACULTY FROM ANY DISCIPLINE, HELPING TO BRIDGE GAPS IN KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS AND IN CULTURE AND MOTIVATION IN ORDER TO SUSTAIN AND GROW LEVELS OF FACULTY INNOVATION.
TECHNOLOGY & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT: THE TECHNOLOGY & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM INCLUDES THE WISCONSIN BIG IDEA TOURNAMENT WHICH WAS ESTABLISHED TO HELP EXTEND THE WISCONSIN ENTREPRENEURIAL ECOSYSTEM TO UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN STUDENTS, WITH A GOAL TO IMPROVE THE OVERALL QUALITY OF BUSINESS STARTUP PERFORMANCE, ALONG WITH WISYS SCHOLAR/SCIENTIST AWARDS WHICH ARE DESIGNED TO HELP ACCELERATE THE CYCLE OF DEVELOPMENT AND COMMERCIALIZATION OF APPLIED AND TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH.
