Organizations Filed Purposes: IMPROVE LIVES BY MOBILIZING THE CARING POWER OF THE COMMUNITY. THESE ARE THE BUILDING BLOCKS FOR A GOOD LIFE - A QUALITY EDUCATION THAT LEADS TO A STABLE JOB, ENOUGH INCOME TO SUPPORT A FAMILY THROUGH RETIREMENT, AND GOOD HEALTH. OUR GOAL IS TO CREATE LONG-LASTING CHANGES THAT PREVENT PROBLEMS FROM HAPPENING IN THE FIRST PLACE. WE ENVISION A COMMUNITY WHERE EVERYONE REACHES THEIR GREATEST POTENTIAL. WE WILL ACCOMPLISH OUR VISION BY ADDRESSING THREE CRITICAL FOCUS AREAS IN OUR COUNTY: EDUCATION, FINANCIAL STABILITY & HEALTH.

UNITED WAY OF DUNN COUNTY UNITES PEOPLE AND RESOURCES TO BUILD A STRONGER COMMUNITY THROUGH INCREASED HEALTH, EDUCATION AND FINANCIAL STABILITY CREATING LASTING, POSITIVE CHANGE.

UNITED WAY'S C-3 CENTER PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO BE A WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT WITH NO DISCRIMINATION, INCOME RESTRICTIONS OR POPULATION GUIDELINES OFFERING NEW OR GENTLY USED GOODS AND CONNECTING PEOPLE IN NEED TO HELPFUL RESOURCES BASED ON CIRCUMSTANCES. IT IS OUR INTENT TO ENABLE INDIVIDUALS AND/OR FAMILIES TO FEEL EMPOWERMENT BY GIVING THEM OPPORTUNITY TO REFOCUS THEIR ENERGY ON BUILDING THEIR BUDGETS, THEIR HOME, AND THEIR HOPE. THOSE ACCESSING THE C-3 CENTER ARE GIVEN A SHOPPING LIKE EXPERIENCE, ALLOWING THEM TO DETERMINE THE PRODUCTS NEEDED. EXAMPLES OF ITEMS FOUND AT THE C-3 CENTER INCLUDE: FURNITURE, MATTRESSES, BEDDING, KITCHEN SUPPLIES (PLATES, SILVERWARE, STORAGE), SMALL KITCHEN APPLIANCES, FANS, AIR CONDITIONERS, CLOTHING, SHOES, PERSONAL HYGIENE ITEMS, DIAPERS/WIPES, BOOKS AND MORE. THE MOST POPULAR ITEMS INCLUDE THE HEALTHCARE KITS, PERSONAL HYGIENE ITEMS, CLOTHING, AND MATTRESSES. THE C-3 CENTER IS NOT JUST A PLACE TO OBTAIN GOODS OR GET CONNECTED TO OTHER SERVICES IN THE COMMUNITY, IT IS ALSO A PLACE FOR THOSE WHO ARE SEEKING TO IMPROVE THEIR SKILL LEVELS, SO THEY CAN BETTER PROVIDE FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR FAMILIES. IN REFLECTION ON THE PROGRAMS IMPACT FOR THE YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2020: (I) THE C-3 CENTER PROGRAM PROVIDED SERVICES TO 1,339 PEOPLE, POINTING OUT 20 PERCENT OF THE HOUSEHOLDS REPORTED BEING RECOGNIZED AS HOMELESS, TRANSIENT POPULATION AT THE TIME OF SERVICE; (II) RECEIVED IN-KIND DONATIONS OF "NEW" GOODS VALUED AT $421,906 FROM THE LOCAL WALMART DISTRIBUTION FACILITY ACCOUNTING FOR NEARLY 50 PERCENT OF ITS TOTAL IN-KIND DONATIONS WITH ADDITIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS RECEIVED FROM GENEROUS INDIVIDUALS THROUGHOUT DUNN COUNTY GIVING GENTLY USED ITEMS VALUED AT $344,997 (ITEMS VALUED USING THE SALVATION ARMY VALUE SCALE); AND (III) 356 COMMUNITY MEMBERS INVESTED 3,679 VOLUNTEER HOURS OF THEIR PERSONAL TIME IN THE PROGRAM, VALUED AT $93,557 (THE CURRENT HOURLY RATE FOR VOLUNTEERS IS ESTIMATED AT $25.43, A WIDELY USED AND ACCEPTED FIGURE FROM THE INDEPENDENTSECTOR.COM).THE SUCCESS OF THE C-3 CENTER CONTINUES AS WE ARE ABLE CHANGE AND IMPROVE LIVES EACH DAY.

UNITED WAY OF DUNN COUNTY'S PRIMARY FOCUS CONTINUES WITH THE LENS TO REBUILD FOR BETTER, MORE EQUITABLE AND MORE RESILIENT COMMUNITIES. WE DON'T WANT TO GET BACK TO "NORMAL." NORMAL WAS NOT WORKING FOR MANY PEOPLE, AND OLD AND BROKEN SYSTEMS WON'T FIX THOSE CHALLENGES. WE ARE REIMAGINING COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE PRIVATE, PUBLIC AND NON-PROFIT SECTORS, TO EFFECTIVELY DRIVE REAL CHANGE IN COMMUNITIES THAT EQUIPS THEM TO BETTER WEATHER INEVITABLE FUTURE CRISIS.NOW MORE THAN EVER, WE MUST DRIVE OPPORTUNITY AT THE COMMUNITY LEVEL IN ORDER TO LEAN INTO OUR MISSION: TO IMPROVE LIVES BY MOBILIZE THE CARING POWER OF THE COMMUNITY. EVERY PERSON IN EVERY COMMUNITY MUST DO THEIR PART TO MAKE OUR COMMUNITIES THE PLACES THAT WE NEED THEM TO BE EQUITABLE, RESPECTFUL AND PROVIDING OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL. AS A SOCIETY, WE CAN AND MUST DO BETTER TO GUARANTEE THAT THE BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS OF EVERY PERSON IN EVERY COMMUNITY ARE PROTECTED AND ENSURED.IT IS CRITICAL WE ARE ABLE TO FINANCIALLY PREPARE FOR, RESPOND TO, AND ULTIMATELY HELP OUR COMMUNITIES EMERGE STRONGER BY FIGHTING FOR THE HEALTH, EDUCATION, AND FINANCIAL STABILITY OF EVERY PERSON IN OUR COMMUNITY. THROUGH ENGAGING THE COMMUNITY IN PHILANTHROPIC GIVING, ADVOCATING FOR ISSUES THAT MATTER MOST AND ENCOURAGING VOLUNTEERISM, UNITED WAY CONNECTS THE COMMUNITY TO RESOURCES AND CONNECTS RESOURCES TO THE COMMUNITY.

ON MARCH 21, 2020, UNITED WAY OF DUNN COUNTY, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF DUNN COUNTY, ANNOUNCED THE DUNN COUNTY COVID-19 RESPONSE FUND TO ADDRESS THE CRITICAL NEEDS WITHIN THE COUNTY AS THEY RELATE TO THE UNEXPECTED EFFECTS OF COVID-19.ON APRIL 30, 2020, THE INITIAL PHASE OF THE DUNN COUNTY COVID-19 RESPONSE FUND, A TOTAL OF $17,000 WAS AWARDED TO FIVE (5) CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS AND FISCALLY SOURCED THROUGH THE UNITED WAY OF DUNN COUNTY MUTUAL FUND HELD AT THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF DUNN COUNTY.THIS RESPONSE FUND WAS ESTABLISHED TO DIRECT FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS CURRENTLY WORKING WITH COMMUNITIES WHO ARE DISPROPORTIONATELY IMPACTED BY COVID-19 AND THE ECONOMIC CONSEQUENCES OF THE OUTBREAK AND ITS RELATED PREVENTATIVE MEASURES. THE FUND IS DESIGNED TO COMPLIMENT THE WORK OF PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICIALS AND EXPAND LOCAL CAPACITY TO ADDRESS ALL ASPECTS OF THE OUTBREAK AND SUBSEQUENT CLOSURES AS EFFICIENTLY AS POSSIBLE.ADMINISTRATION OF THE GRANTS ARE DONE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF DUNN COUNTY. TOGETHER, WE PROACTIVELY IDENTIFY POTENTIAL GRANT RECIPIENTS, SOLICIT GUIDANCE ON POTENTIAL RECIPIENTS FROM COMMUNITY ADVISORS, REVIEW GRANT APPLICATIONS, AND RECOMMEND FINAL AWARDS. FUNDS ARE ACTIVELY BEING RELEASED ON A ROLLING BASIS AS FUNDRAISING CONTINUES THROUGH THE RECOVERY PHASES OF THE CRISIS.
