MIDDLETON OUTREACH MINISTRY (MOM) IS A COMMUNITY-BASED CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION THAT OFFERS FOOD, CLOTHING, FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, AND OTHER AID TO COMMUNITY RESIDENTS WHO REQUIRE TRANSITIONAL HELP. MOM ALSO PROVIDES VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR COMMUNITY RESIDENTS SEEKING TO HELP THEIR COMMUNITY. THIS VOLUNTEER SUPPORT, ALONG WITH COMMUNITY FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS, ARE ANNUALLY DIRECTED TO THE BETTERMENT OF THE MIDDLETON, CROSS PLAINS, AND WEST MADISON COMMUNITY THROUGH HELPING THOSE IN NEED.
CREATE FOOD AND HOUSING SECURITY THROUGH ACTION AND ADVOCACY, FOR NEIGHBORS IN WEST MADISON, MIDDLETON AND CROSS PLAINS.
FOOD PANTRY AND CLOTHING CENTER - MOM DISTRIBUTES FOOD, THE MOST FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN NEED, SIX DAYS A WEEK TO RESIDENTS IN NEED. OUR FOOD PANTRY IS STAFFED BY A DEDICATED GROUP OF VOLUNTEERS WHO RECORDED APPROXIMATELY 26,906 HOURS OF VOLUNTEER TIME. THE PANTRY DISTRIBUTED NEARLY $1.3 MILLION POUNDS OF FOOD IN FISCAL YEAR 2020 TO 1,624 HOUSEHOLDS VISITS PER MONTH OF WHOM NEARLY HALF ARE CHILDREN. THE AMOUNT OF FOOD EACH FAMILY RECEIVES IS BASED ON FAMILY SIZE WITH NO LIMITATIONS ON NUMBER OF VISITS OR INCOME LEVELS. 88% OF OUR FOOD IS DONATED BY THE COMMUNITY, SCHOOLS, AND BUSINESSES INCLUDING FRESH PRODUCE GROWN IN THREE VOLUNTEER-STAFFED GARDENS WITH ONE BEING A CLIENT TEACHING GARDEN. GENTLY USED CLOTHING AND LINENS ARE PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE THROUGH THE CLOTHING CENTER, SERVING AN AVERAGE OF 978 HOUSEHOLD VISITS PER MONTH AND HELPING OUR CUSTOMERS STRETCH THEIR LIMITED DOLLARS. IN OPERATION FOR MORE THAN 13 YEARS, THE PROGRAM IN FISCAL YEAR 2020 SAVED CUSTOMERS OVER $698,568 AT THRIFT STORE PRICES.
HOUSING STABILIZATION - MOM ASSISTS PEOPLE WHO ARE DEALING WITH FINANCIAL HARDSHIPS BECAUSE OF AN INTERRUPTION OF INCOME OR UNEXPECTED EXPENSES. A CASE MANAGER MEETS INDIVIDUALLY WITH CLIENTS TO DISCUSS THEIR SITUATION AND IF POSSIBLE PROVIDE RENTAL, UTILITY, AND OTHER EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. AN OUTREACH CASE MANAGER WORKS WITH AREA ORGANIZATIONS TO HELP FACILITATE BROADER ACCESS TO SERVICES IN OUR COMMUNITY. IN FISCAL YEAR 2020 CASE WORKERS APPROVED 622 VOUCHERS FOR $166,972 IN ASSISTANCE.
SEASONAL PROGRAMS - THE SEASONAL PROGRAMS INCLUDE A SCHOOL SUPPLY PROGRAM WHICH PROVIDED BACKPACKS AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO 493 STUDENTS, A THANKSGIVING PROGRAM THAT SUPPLIED THANKSGIVING FOOD IN BASKETS TO 219 FAMILIES, AND A HOLIDAY GIFT PROGRAM DURING DECEMBER WHICH DISTRIBUTED GIFTS TO 1,318 INDIVIDUALS.
