THE MUSEUM IS DEDICATED TO PROVIDING HANDS-ON EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES THAT HELP CHILDREN BUILD FUNDAMENTAL COGNITIVE, SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL SKILLS DURING THEIR FORMATIVE YEARS, AND TO EDUCATING ADULTS ABOUT THE PROFOUND INFLUENCE OF EARLY LEARNING ON A CHILD'S ACADEMIC AND LIFELONG SUCCESS.
THE MUSEUM INSPIRES ALL CHILDREN TO WONDER AND EXPLORE THEIR WORLD THROUGH PLAY AND INNOVATIVE, HANDS-ON LEARNING EXPERIENCES.
EXHIBIT DEVELOPMENT - INCLUDES CREATION, FABRICATION, AND MAINTENANCE OF EXHIBITS THAT ARE PART OF THE EXHIBIT RENTAL AND SALES PROGRAM TO OTHER VENUES. RENTAL EXHIBITS ARE DISPLAYED ON THE MUSEUM FLOOR ON A ROTATING BASIS AND ENHANCE THE MUSEUM EXPERIENCE.
MUSEUM EXPERIENCE - THE MUSEUM FEATURES INTERACTIVE EXHIBITS AND ENGAGING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS THAT PROMOTE SCHOOL READINESS, INCLUDING THE DEVELOPMENT OF EARLY LITERACY, BEGINNING MATH AND SCIENCE CONCEPTS, AND PROBLEM-SOLVING, PHYSICAL AND SOCIAL SKILLS. THE MUSEUM WAS ABLE TO HOST 29,312 VISITS BY CHILDREN AND ADULTS THROUGH ITS COMMUNITY OUTREACH INITIATIVES, WHICH REPRESENTED NEARLY 17% OF THE MUSEUM'S TOTAL ATTENDANCE FOR 2019. THE BETTY BRINN CHILDREN'S MUSEUM SERVED 202,432 INDIVIDUALS AND 24,909 CHILDREN, EDUCATORS AND CHAPERONES TOOK A FIELD TRIP TO THE MUSEUM.
EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES - MUSEUM EXHIBITS AND PROGRAMS REFLECT DEVELOPMENTAL MILESTONES RECOGNIZED BY THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE EDUCATION OF YOUNG CHILDREN, AS WELL AS STATE AND NATIONAL ACADEMIC STANDARDS, AND PROMOTE SCHOOL READINESS BY FOCUSING ON EARLY LITERACY; BEGINNING SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, ARTS, AND MATH CONCEPTS; THE DEVELOPMENT OF PLANNING AND PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS; COOPERATION, SELF-ESTEEM AND SELF-DISCIPLINE; AND PHYSICAL COORDINATION.
