To protect the public through the development, administration, and promotion of an accredited certification in infection prevention and control.
Exam Administration: CBIC offers voluntary periodic certification exams for all infection control professionals meeting educational and practice requirements. The purpose of the certification process is to protect the public by providing a standardized measurement of current basic knowledge needed for persons practicing infection control, to encourage individual growth and study, thereby promoting professionalism among infection control professionals and to formally recognize infection control professionals who fulfill the requirements for certification. CBIC's certification program is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.
Recertification Examination: is an open book web-based exam available only to re-certifiers. It is designed for the candidate to complete at his or her own pace within the calendar year that the candidate is due for recertification.
Exam Prep Webinars: CBIC offers on-demand webinars on each of the 8 domain content areas. These webinars were recorded on June 26, 2015 at the Annual APIC Conference in Nashville, TN. The eight domain areas are: (1. Identification of Infectious Disease Processes) (2. Surveillance and Epidemiologic Investigation) (3. Preventing/Controlling the Transmission of Infectious Agents) (4. Employee/Occupational Health) (5. Management and Communication) (6. Education and Research) (7. Environment of Care) and (8. Cleaning, Sterilization, Disinfection, Asepsis).
