To support those affected by endometriosis, educate about the disease and conduct and promote research related to the disease.
The Research/Translational Medicine Program supports a wide range of scientific and clinical activities, including development of data and presentation in scientific papers assistance with clinical recruitments, research projects and patient surveys to aid better clinical practice and scientific insights and attendance at numerous medical conferences, including staffing booths, which allow us to distribute thousands of journals, monographs, leaflets, and scientific papers.
The Education Program seeks to educate families and the community at large about endometriosis. Outreach takes many forms. It includes the Associations three popular books on the disease one in Spanish, literature in 31 languages, media stories, our website, information postings on Facebook and booths run by volunteers and/or staff at lay conferences and meetings worldwide where print and media educational materials are provided. In March the association sponsors Endometriosis Awareness Month worldwide, sending yellow ribbons in three languages and brochures throughout the U.S. and across the globe to volunteers who distribute them to healthcare professionals, families, friends, and others. Annually we respond to requests for information, mailing more than 1,000 information packets, while responding to other requests via mail, email, Facebook, or phone. More than 2.5 million people have visited the Associations website.
Our Support Program assists those suffering from endometriosis, those who suspect they may have the disease and those who care for these girls and women-their families and others who seek to understand or to help. Staff members annually field more than 4,000 emails and 1,500 phone calls requesting support for assistance. In addition, our support services include correspondance networks regarding a particular aspect of the disease, volunteer crisis call helpers, a prescription drug savings program, discounted nutritional supplements, a discounted topical pain reliever, and a healthcare provider list.
