The Junior League of Milwaukee is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers
Membership Development To provide education and training for the members volunteers to help support the community programs
The Junior League of Milwaukee JLM is committed to responding to the needs of the community. JLM has identified its focus areas as the education, health and nutrition of women and children. In the current year JLM continuted the partnership with its 100th Annivesary partner - Aurora Safe Home Environment SHE. A grant of 20,000 was made which will allow the Aurora Abuse Response program Safe Mom, Safe Baby to add safe housing at Mercy Housings St. Catherine Residence to its wrap-around services for expectant mothers threatened by domestic violence. JLM awarded a 5000 grant to Childrens Outing Association Youth Family Centers to help hire a coordinator for its Read Everywhere program. Read Everywhere is a city-wide program that hosts literacy events and distributes 20,000 childrens book each year. JLM awarded a 5000 grant to Walkers Point Youth Family Center to support its Crisis Runaway Program Couseling Project. This funding will support two therapists who provide therapy to the program participants.
Junior League Singers JLM singers provide entertainment and fun to nursing homes and retirement facilities across the Milwaukee area. Through song, this group brings smiles to seniors in all stages of care.
