Organizations Filed Purposes:
TO REVITALIZE AND SUSTAIN THE MENOMONEE VALLEY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE GREATER MILWAUKEE COMMUNITY.
Coordination and facilitation activities include management of Business Improvement District #26, which provides assistance to Valley companies with workforce recruitment and retention, public safety, business services and other programs aimed at making the Valley an outstanding place to operate a business. Programs focus on workforce development, addressing workforce transportation issues, facilitating Valley Circles peer learning groups, and programming for the Career Discovery Initiative, a series of programs introducing youth to a variety of career paths in the Valley.
Outreach and marketing programs include efforts that celebrate the Menomonee River Valley, the things to do, places to visit, and great career opportunities available. Projects include the annual Valley Week events, branding, signage, and neighborhood beautification, business recruitment, and activities that promote the district.
Catalytic projects are those with objectives and goals that cover all program areas. Activities in this category focus entirely on Menomonee Valley - From the Ground Up, a series of projects that connect communities to jobs, environmental education, restored natural resources and new recreational opportunities. The comprehensive effort is a partnership with the State of Wisconsin, City of Milwaukee and Urban Ecology Center, Inc. and includes expanding the Hand Aaron State Trail by six miles, creating a Menomonee Valley branch of the Urban Ecology Center, Inc., and transforming a 24 acre vacant rail yard into Three Bridges Park.
