Organizations Filed Purposes: Paralyzed Veterans of America - Wisconsin Chapter (PVA-WI) works to improve the quality of life for veterans, in our state, living with spinal cord injury or disease, including those with MS and ALS. Our work is carried out through a variety of programs.

Adaptive Sports and Recreation: During the COVID-19 pandemic we shifted focus to delivering virtual, on-line activities for our members to include the first ever Virtual Wheelchair games. We purchased adaptive equipment for our members to train at home. We held and coordinated virtual training sessions via Zoom. We were able to hold our air rifle practices and competition in-person with additional safety procedures. We also financially support other veteran programs and adaptive sports organizations. Membership and Service Programs: We purchased and fielded FaceBook portals to our membership and board members to ensure connectivity during the pandemic. PVAs National Service Officer and its Benefit Specialists make sure that Veterans and newly injured SCI veterans identify and understand the benefits available to them. These representatives can serve as their voice in the often complicated process. The hospital liaison program ensures that our Veterans have a voice in their quality of care and the medical facility. Additionally, the Chapter holds an Annual Banquet, numerous hospital pizza parties, a holiday luncheon and other social membership events. The Chapter provides various for veterans while they are in-patients on the SCI ward to make them more comfortable and capable of enjoying their hospital stay like blankets, ear phones, phone chargers, etc. Through the entertainment program members can be reimbursed up to $50 two times per year, to participate Communication Programs: The goal of this program is to share information about Spinal Cord Injury, Disease, MS and ALS with individuals and organizations. We hired a professional website development/management company to provide a state of the art, accessible website designed to meet our membership needs. Research/Education is the key to understanding. When others understand the challenges of those confined to a wheelchair they see the importance of our advocacy and of supporting Americans with Disabilities Act. Additionally, we provided educational scholarships for SCI professionals to obtain/further their SCI certifications. And/or further their education. We also awarded grants to other SCI research programs. Other Program Expenses for: Government Relations/Advocacy, Public Education and Research, Wisconsin Adaptive Sports Association, and Veterans Affield. With our major gifts we created a third endowment account for Adaptive Technology and we invested heav Other Program Expenses for: Government Relations, Public Education and Research, Medical Assistance Liaison.
