United Way works to raise funds to assist local programs working to improve the education, income and health of area residents. Contributions are invested in programs that are effective, accountable and focused to address needs of people in Green County, programs that work to improve lives and strengthen the community. Applications for funding of all organizations and programs are carefully reviewed; requiring program description, purpose and anticipated outcomes including detailed information of how those outcomes will be measured and reported. Financial records are also reviewed examining the revenue and expenses for all funded programs, verifying the intended use of all funds, reviewing the number of people benefited, and insuring that no part of the funds are paid to any private shareholder or individual according to IRC Sec 170 (c) (1) or IRC Sec 170 (c) (2), or that the organization qualified under Sec 501 (c).
