Organizations Filed Purposes:
CCHS is dedicated to promoting a more humane world through: operating a No-Kill Shelter, adopting out homeless cats & dogs, low cost spay/neuter services, humane education, reducing pet overpopulation, assisting area residents with pet problems, and alleviating animal suffering whenever possible.
Adoption Program: One of the primary goals of CCHS is to operate a No-Kill Humane Society. Staff and volunteers work very hard to place dogs and cats in need with loving families in new forever homes. In 2020, CCHS placed 974 animals, including 815 dogs and 159 cats.
FixaPet Program: CCHS has established a low-cost high-quality spay/neuter program for cats and dogs. The program is open to everyone, regardless of location or financial need, with a goal of helping to reduce the pet overpopulation problem. In 2020, 1535 surgeries were performed, including 360 cat spays, 252 cat neuters, 471 dog spays, and 452 dog neuters. Since FixaPet began in 2007, 20629 surgeries have been performed.
Cat and Dog Surrenders: Animals are surrendered to CCHS by owners unable to keep their pets. Perhaps the family is moving, allergies have developed in the family, or there is a change in family dynamics, for example a divorce or new baby. Regardless of the reason, CCHS tries to best help these individuals with their pet problems. If the problems cannot be resolved, CCHS accepts the animals in need and will work to find a new home for the pet.
