Organizations Filed Purposes:
The South Milwaukee Industrial Museum was established to preserve and display for the public the historical archives and artifacts of Bucyrus International, Inc. and all of its predecessor and merged companies. Public access will allow exploration of the company history, the development of engineering innovations and the integration of technology in the machines and products the company produced from 1880 to 2011. The company had a big impact on the economy and life of many South Milwaukee residents for more than a century.
South Milwaukee Industrial Museum LLC produced public educational displays for the South Milwaukee Public Library and the South Milwaukee City Hall in 2018. There were 4 displays at no charge during the year.
South Milwaukee Industrial Museum LLC was a participant in the Evening on the Avenue, providing educational information regarding the history of the Bucyrus Company to attendees as a public service project.
SMIM also worked with the South Milwaukee Historical Society to correctly identify one of the early South Milwaukee Mayors as part of their fact checking process. We were able to identify and confirm the correct name from our employee archives and early company records.
