UNITED WAY STRIVES TO BUILD A STRONGER AND HEALTHIER SHEBOYGAN COUNTY THROUGH EFFECTIVELY FACILITATING COMMUNITY RESOURCES, CONVENING BROAD DIALOGUE AND LEADING THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS AND COLLABORATION.
EACH GIFT TO UNITED WAY IS COMBINED WITH THOSE FROM THOUSANDS OF DONORS AND INVESTED DIRECTLY INTO INITIATIVES AND PROGRAMS THAT BENEFIT THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY, NOT JUST ONE PROGRAM, ISSUE, OR POPULATION. THANKS TO YOUR SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY ACTION FUND WAS ABLE TO SUPPORT THREE COMMUNITY IMPACT INITIATIVES AND 40 PROGRAMS AT 21 LOCAL NONPROFIT AGENCIES REFERENCED IN OUR 990 AND ANNUAL REPORT. THE THREE COMMUNITY IMPACT INITIATIVES UNITED WAY INVESTS IN ARE THE VOLUNTEER CENTER, PROVIDING ACCESS TO HEALING (PATH) AND SHEBOYGAN COUNTY COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP FOR CHILDREN (CPC). IN 2019, VOLUNTEER CENTER SUPPORTED OVER 84 NONPROFIT AGENCIES, PROMOTED 233 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES, AND CONNECTED 1187 COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO VOLUNTEER PROJECTS. DAY OF CARING WAS HELD ON 9/12/2019 AND CONNECTED 960 VOLUNTEERS TO 36 AGENCIES FOR 52 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES. THE FIRST VIRTUAL SPIRIT OF SHEBOYGAN COUNTY AWARDS WAS HOSTED ON 5/20/2020 THANKING ALL SHEBOYGAN COUNTY VOLUNTEERS AND AWARDING 6 VOLUNTEER AWARDS. SHEBOYGAN COUNTY COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP FOR CHILDREN (CPC) IS A CRADLE TO CAREER INITIATIVE FOCUSED ON PREVENTION SUPPORT FOR YOUTH AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE COALITION IS CURRENTLY FOCUSED ON DEVELOPING THE EARLY LEARNING PORTION OF THE INITIATIVE, WHICH FOCUSES ON CHILDREN AGES PRENATAL TO 6-YEARS-OLD AND THEIR FAMILIES AND CAREGIVERS. THE VISION OF THE SCCPC IS THAT ALL SHEBOYGAN COUNTY CHILDREN ARE SAFE, HEALTHY AND PREPARED TO GROW, LEARN AND ACHIEVE. THE WELCOME BABY PROGRAM, DEVELOPMENT SCREENING INITIATIVE, AND PARENT CAFE WORKSHOPS ARE THE CURRENT FOCUS OF CPC. THE WELCOME BABY PROGRAM IS OFFERED TO FIRST TIME PARENTS IN SHEBOYGAN COUNTY. DURING THE VISIT, A RESOURCE SPECIALIST MEETS WITH FAMILIES IN THE HOSPITALS TO PROVIDE COMMUNITY RESOURCE INFORMATION, AS WELL AS CONNECT FAMILIES TO PARENTS AS TEACHERS HOME VISITING PROGRAM. 742 CLIENTS WERE SERVED. COMMUNITY-WIDE DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENING EVENTS GIVE PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO DISCUSS THEIR CHILD'S DEVELOPMENT WITH TRAINED STAFF, SHARE ACTIVITIES TO FOSTER HEALTHY CHILD DEVELOPMENT, AND CONNECT FAMILIES TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES IN SHEBOYGAN COUNTY. 7 SCREENING EVENTS WERE HELD, AND 181 CLIENTS WERE SERVED. PARENT CAFE WORKSHOPS GIVE FAMILIES THE OPPORTUNITY TO TALK ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE INTERESTED IN AND MAKE FRIENDS WITH OTHER PARENTS IN THE AREA. 7 EVENTS WERE HELD, AND 50 CLIENTS WERE SERVED. PROVIDING ACCESS TO HEALING (PATH) IS A SCHOOL-BASED MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAM THAT HELPS CREATE INCREASED ACCESS TO SERVICES FOR YOUTH BY REMOVING FINANCIAL AND GEOGRAPHICAL BARRIERS. STUDENTS EXPERIENCE: IMPROVED ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE AND SOCIAL FUNCTIONING, REDUCED SUSPENSIONS, DETENTIONS, UNEXCUSED ABSENCES, AND SYMPTOMS AND SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS TOWARDS TREATMENT GOALS. 2019/2020 PATH OUTCOMES BY THE NUMBER INCLUDE 578 STUDENTS WERE SERVED. IN A GIVEN SCHOOL WEEK, THIS PROVIDED 455 THERAPY SESSIONS FOR STUDENTS THROUGHOUT SHEBOYGAN COUNTY TOTALING 22,295 THERAPY SESSIONS FOR YOUTH, AN INCREASE OF 54% STUDENTS SERVED FROM THE 2018/2019 SCHOOL YEAR. STUDENTS SELF-REPORTED THE FOLLOWING: 85% FEEL BETTER IN LIFE, 88% THINK COUNSELING HELPS THEM DO BETTER IN SCHOOL, 81% REPORT COUNSELING IS HELPING THEM WITH THEIR FAMILY, 96% REPORT PROGRESS ON TREATMENT. IN ADDITION, ON MARCH 14, 2020, A COVID-19 RELIEF FUND WAS LAUNCHED TO HELP ORGANIZATIONS EFFECTED BY THE PANDEMIC TO CONTINUE TO PROVIDE SERVICES WITHIN SHEBOYGAN COUNTY AND SUPPORT OUR MOST VULNERABLE NEIGHBORS IN NEED. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE SHEBOYGAN SERVICE CLUB, THE FUND HAS SUPPORTED MORE THAN 32 AGENCIES AND COLLABORATIONS. AS PART OF THE COVID-19 RESPONSE EFFORTS, UNITED WAY ALSO LAUNCHED A COVID-19 NONPROFIT RESPONSE NETWORK AND SHEBOYGANCOUNTYSTRONG.COM WEBSITE, TWO INITIATIVES PROVIDING THE NONPROFIT SECTOR WITH ON-GOING SUPPORT AS WELL AS COMMUNITY AND EMPLOYERS IN NEED.
