Organizations Filed Purposes:
To support and advocate for the work of Schmeeckle Reserve through programs and outreach, land management, and by raising funding and resources.
In combination with Portage County and the Green Circle Trail Committee, we established a trailhead for the Green Circle, a 26 mile hiking/biking trail that encircles the city. The Trailhead includes a picnic pavillion, four season bathrooms and plaza.
The Friends has established an endowment for the Schmeeckle Reserve to insure ongoing support for years to come.
Maintenance & Improvements Ongoing maintenance including trail repair, boardwalk repair and improvement, invasive species contral as well as cleaan up from wind damage are the main project undertaken.
