THE ORGANIZATION HOLDS A 4-DAY ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING. MEETING INCLUDED TOURS OF MEMBERS WOODLANDS, WALKS WITH A BOTANIST, STATE WILDLIFE AREA, STAND OF OLD GROWTH HEMLOCKS TO LEARN ABOUT REGENERATING FORESTS, MANAGEMENT OF TIMBER, CULTURAL, AND WILDLIFE RESOURCES. ALSO TOURED LOCAL WOOD-UTILIZING INDUSTRIES TO SEE HOW WOOD FIBER IS USED IN EVERYDAY PRODUCTS. KEYNOTE PRESENTED ON THE IMPORTANCE OF PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTING FOREST-WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES FOR BENEFITS (FOREST PRODUCTS, WILDLIFE, AND RECREATION) THAT WILL ACCRUE AND BE ENJOYED NOW AND BY FUTURE GENERATIONS. FORMAL PRESENTATIONS ON LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS WHEN TRANSFERRING YOUR LAND TO THE NEXT GENERATION, TREE SEED PRODUCTION AND PROCUREMENT, CLIMATE CHANGE AND WISCONSIN'S WOODLANDS, AND THE MANAGEMENT OF NORTHERN HARDWOODS. A FIELD DAY WAS HELD ON TWO MEMBERS' WOODLANDS AND INCLUDED FIELD STATIONS ON FORESTS AND CLIMATE CHANGE, FOREST TYPES AND COMPOSITION, FOREST SOILS, OAK REGENERATION, WILDLIFE HABITAT, AND RUSTIC CABIN CONSTRUCTION.
THE ORGANIZATION PUBLISHES A 44 PAGE QUARTERLY MAGAZINE WITH EDUCATIONAL ARTICLES ON SUSTAINABLE FOREST MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES, MANAGING WISCONSIN'S TIMBER TYPES, TIMBER HARVESTING AND TAXES, LANDOWNER ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS, FOREST HEALTH ISSUES - INSECTS, DISEASES, INVASIVES - WILDLIFE HABITAT AND MANAGEMENT, FOREST REGENERATION AND TREE PLANTING, LEGACY AND ESTATE PLANNING, AND FOREST RECREATION.
THE ORGANIZATION'S 12 CHAPTERS REACHED MORE THAN 950 MEMBERS WITH PROGRAMMING ON THE LOCAL LEVEL. TWENTY-THREE LOCAL CHAPTER EVENTS WERE HELD ACROSS WISCONSIN INCLUDING SPRING AND FALL FIELD DAYS, MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS BEFORE THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC CANCELLED ALL IN PERSON ACTIVITIES. MOST EVENTS WERE HELD ON MEMBER'S WOODLANDS AND COVERED TOPICS SUCH AS SUSTAINABLE WOODLAND MANAGEMENT PRACTICES, WOODLAND WILDLIFE HABITAT, CONTROL OF INVASIVE SPECIES AND OTHER FOREST HEALTH ISSUES, AND THE CREATION OF PONDS AND PRAIRIES.
