Organizations Filed Purposes: THE DOOR COUNTY LAND TRUST IS A LOCAL, NON-GOVERNMENTAL NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION WHOSE MISSION IS TO PRESERVE DOOR COUNTY'S EXCEPTIONAL LANDS AND WATERS FOREVER.

OUR MISSION IS TO PRESERVE DOOR COUNTY'S EXCEPTIONAL LANDS AND WATERS FOREVER.

ACQUISITION - THE DOOR COUNTY LAND TRUST COMPLETED 6 CONSERVATION PURCHASES, 1 LAND DONATION AND 1 CONSERVATION EASEMENT AGREEMENT PROJECT. THESE PROJECTS INCLUDE PROTECTION OF CONTIGUOUS FOREST, MIGRATORY BIRD HABITAT AND SHORELINE ON CHAMBERS ISLAND, TWO ISLANDS WITHIN DETROIT HARBOR, ADDITIONAL LAND ACQUISITION ON FORESTED LAND IN THE HEART OF THE GIBRALTAR-EPHRAIM SWAMP THAT PROTECTS HEADWATER WETLANDS FOR CREEKS WHICH DRAIN INTO GREEN BAY WITHIN THE COASTAL WETLAND CORRIDOR THAT IS DESIGNATED AS RAMSAR WETLANDS OF INTERNATIONAL SIGNIFICANCE, AND A CREEK IN SOUTHERN DOOR THAT DRAINS INTO GREEN BAY. THE LAND TRUST ALSO ASSISTED THE VILLAGE OF SISTER BAY WITH THE PROTECTION OF PEBBLE BEACH.

STEWARDSHIP - THE DOOR COUNTY LAND TRUST MAINTAINED MORE THAN 25 MILES OF NATURE PRESERVE TRAILS WITH THE HELP OF VOLUNTEERS AT VOLUNTEER WORK DAYS. THE LAND TRUST STAFF COMPLETED ANNUAL MONITORING OF EACH OF THE 37 NATURE PRESERVES AND NATURAL AREAS AND EACH OF THE 73 CONSERVATION EASEMENT PROPERTIES. THE LAND TRUST FINISHED WORK ON THE LARGEST RESTORATION PROJECT IN ITS HISTORY TO REMOVE NON-NATIVE, INVASIVE SPECIES ON MORE THAN 430 ACRES AT THE STURGEON BAY SHIP CANAL AND HEINS CREEK NATURE PRESERVES. A MULTIYEAR COMMUNITY CONSERVATION EFFORT TO CONTROL INVASIVE PLANTS AT THE BAY SHORE BLUFFLANDS NATURE PRESERVE AND THE SURROUNDING NEIGHBORHOOD CULMINATED WITH A SHOWCASE PLANTING OF A POLLINATOR GARDEN.

OUTREACH - THE DOOR COUNTY LAND TRUST SHARED MORE THAN 4,400 ACRES WITH THE PUBLIC FOR RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES, WHICH WERE ANNOUNCED THROUGH A HIKING MAP (10,000 DISTRIBUTED COUNTY WIDE), NEWSLETTERS (6,000), EVENT SCHEDULES (3,500), WEBSITE AND HIKING APPS FOR MOBILE DEVICES. GUIDED HIKES AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES WERE LED ON NATURE PRESERVES, ENGAGING MORE THAN 350 PARTICIPANTS. OTHER ACTIVITIES INCLUDED TOURS TO CONSERVATION EASEMENT PROTECTED PROPERTIES, EXPERIENTIAL ACTIVITIES, VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES, FIELD TRIPS FOR LOCAL STUDENTS, PRESENTATIONS AT LOCAL EVENTS, AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES WITH OTHER NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS.
