Organizations Filed Purposes: Eras Senior Network is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to engage and support seniors, adults with disabilities, and family caregivers in leading meaningful lives. Seniors and adults with disabilities are supported by volunteers of all ages to help them maintain their independence. Eras helps individuals 55 and older stay engaged in their community through a variety of meaningful volunteer opportunities.

Supporting Seniors: We support seniors and adults with disabilities through a network of intergenerational volunteers. We match trained, screened community volunteers to address the needs of seniors (age 60+) and adults (age 18+) with disabilities who do not qualify for government entitlement programs, but lack the personal or financial resources to access services that help them manage their nutrition, healthcare, and home safety. All services, including transportation to healthcare appointments, food pantries and grocery stores, and other self-sufficiency appointments (social security, legal, for example) are offered at no charge to help clients who have fixed incomes. Providing services at no charge helps clients to better manage their rising expenses of housing, healthcare and copays, nutrition, and utilities on a fixed income.

Transportation Access: Eras is recognized in the Waukesha County community for leading and managing collaborations that address community-level social issues through a Collective Impact approach. During 2018, Eras developed the infrastructure and computer software for Find a Ride Network (FARN). Find a Ride Network, a one call-one click transportation access and facilitation initiative, was piloted in the northeastern part of Waukesha County in 2019. FARN enables seniors and adults with disabilities to access transportation for healthcare, nutrition, and basic needs services.

Engaging Seniors: Our mission is to engage and support Milwaukee and Waukesha County seniors in living meaningful lives. Our agency is recognized in Waukesha County as the leading nonprofit agency in efforts and programs involving people age 55 years and older. We maintain partnerships with school districts, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations to identify local needs, and develop high-impact, meaningful service opportunities for seniors. Annually our agency places 350 retired and senior-age volunteers in three school districts to provide one on one tutoring, small group activities, and classroom support in public schools. We measure the impact of this work through pre-tests and post-tests of students who are impacted by the volunteers efforts, with the districts providing the data to show the gains made in math, reading, writing, and critical thinking. Service activities include tutoring school children, helping with math, assisting in classrooms, serving as pen pals. Seniors support other nonprofit agencies through serving as program assistants, volunteer drivers, delivering meals to homebound individuals, serving on boards of directors, and helping at fundraisers and educational events.
