EASTER SEALS SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN PROVIDES EXCEPTIONAL SERVICES TO ENSURE THAT ALL PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES OR SPECIAL NEEDS AND THEIR FAMILIES HAVE EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES TO LIVE, LEARN, WORK, AND PLAY IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. OUR VISION IS TO BUILD A WORLD WHERE ALL PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE EQUAL IN EVERY WAY, AND CAN REALIZE THEIR GOALS, DREAMS, AND ASPIRATIONS.

OUR WORKFORCE PROGRAMS PROVIDE A RANGE OF TRAINING, PLACEMENT, AND RELATED SERVICES THAT HELP INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES AND MENTAL HEALTH / AODA CONCERNS PREPARE FOR THE WORKFORCE, INCLUDING SOFT SKILLS DEVELOPMENT, JOB PLACEMENT, INTERNSHIPS (PROJECT SEARCH) AND CAREER EXPLORATION. OUR LILYWORKS COMMERCIAL SERVICES OFFER COMPETITIVE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIVIDUALS TO DEVELOP WORK SKILLS IN AREAS OF CATERING AND COMMERCIAL LAWN MAINTENANCE. THESE WORK ENVIRONMENTS OFFER COMMUNITY BASED INTEGRATED WORK SKILLS TRAINING ACROSS THE AREA THAT ARE TRANSLATABLE TO A VARIETY OF INDEPENDENT COMMUNITY JOB OPPORTUNITIES. 312 INDIVIDUALS WERE SERVED IN THESE PROGRAMS DURING THE YEAR. EFFECTIVE MARCH 29, 2019 EASTERSEALS SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN TERMINATED ITS LILYWORKS COMMERCIAL LAWN MAINTENANCE AND IT'S COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT, CAREER CONNECT AND COMMUNITY CONNECT PROGRAMS.

OUR ADULT DAY PROGRAM SUPPORTS ADULTS WITH SEVERE COGNITIVE AND PHYSICAL DISABILITIES AND INTENSE MEDICAL NEEDS WITH WEEKDAY PROGRAMMING AND SPECIALIZED ACTIVITIES. THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN INDEPENDENCE, MAKE FRIENDS, AND GAIN COMMUNITY LIVING EXPERIENCE. THE RECREATION PROGRAM IS THE RESULT OF OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH THE MILWAUKEE COUNTY OFFICE OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES SEASONAL RECREATION ACTIVITIES FOR TEENS AND ADULTS, AGES 16 AND OLDER, WITH DISABILITIES AT THE WIL-O-WAY RECREATION CENTERS AND AT OTHER COMMUNITY SITES. THE CARE MANAGEMENT SERVICES PROGRAM IS THE RESULT OF OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH MYCHOICE FAMILYCARE. WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MONITORING THE LONG TERM CARE NEEDS AND FEDERAL AND STATE FUNDING SOURCES FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AND OLDER ADULTS WHO RECEIVE SUPPORT SERVICE IN MILWAUKEE COUNTY. WE ENSURE THAT INDIVIDUALS HAVE THE APPROPRIATE LEVELS OF SUPPORT SERVICES TO LIVE AS SAFELY AND INDEPENDENTLY AS POSSIBLE. OUR CORPORATE GUARDIANSHIP PROGRAMS PROVIDE CRITICAL SUPPORT TO PEOPLE WHO ARE AGING OR HAVE A DISABILITY THAT IMPAIRS THEIR ABILITY TO MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS ABOUT THEIR LIFE AND WELFARE. THESE ARE INDIVIDUALS WITHOUT FAMILY, FRIENDS, OR CAREGIVERS TO ASSIST THEM AND WHO WITHOUT THESE SUPPORTS ARE AT RISK FOR ABUSE AND NEGLECT. WE ARE LICENSED TO ACT AS GUARDIAN OF THE PERSON AND ESTATE TO PROVIDE PERSONALIZED DECISION MAKING REGARDING A PERSON'S QUALITY OF LIFE, HEALTHCARE, FINANCES, AND OTHER LIFE ISSUES. 1,419 INDIVIDUALS WERE SERVED IN THESE PROGRAMS DURING THE YEAR.

APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS (AUTISM PROGRAM) IS A TEACHING MODEL THAT RECOGNIZES A BEHAVIOR THAT REQUIRES ALTERATION THEN IMPLEMENTS A PROCEDURE TO CREATE THAT CHANGE. IN ADDITION, TARGETED BEHAVIORS ARE FREQUENTLY MEASURED AND INTERVENTIONS ARE ALTERED AS NEEDED TO CREATE THE MOST EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE OUTCOME. THE OVERALL GOAL OF THIS THERAPY IS TO HELP THE CHILD IMPROVE THEIR COMMUNICATION, DEVELOPMENTAL, SOCIAL, AND INTELLECTUAL SKILLS THROUGH BEHAVIOR SUPPORT. THE AUTISM PROGRAM WAS TERMINATED ON MARCH 29, 2019. SAFE BABIES HEALTHY FAMILIES FOCUSES ON PREVENTION OF CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT FROM PRENATAL TO AGE 5 THROUGH IMPROVED PARENTING PRACTICES AND EARLY DETECTION OF DEVELOPMENTAL DELAYS AND HEALTH ISSUES. RESPITE SERVICES PROVIDE RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH WITH DISABILITIES AGES 7-21 TO GAIN INCREASED INDEPENDENCE AND ENHANCED QUALITY OF LIFE THROUGH ABILITY AND AGE APPROPRIATE ACTIVITIES. MANY OF THESE YOUNG INDIVIDUALS HAVE NOT HAD ACCESS TO FUN AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES THAT OTHERS ENJOY, AND THEIR FAMILIES HAVE HAD LITTLE OR NO RESPITE TIME FROM THE DEMANDS OF CARE GIVING. THE PROGRAM ADDRESSES THIS ISSUE BY PROVIDING AN ACCEPTING, NURTURING PLACE WHERE THESE YOUNG PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES CAN SOCIALIZE AND HAVE FUN THROUGH SUMMER RESPITE CAMP. WE OFFER SUMMER DAY AND RESPITE CAMP PROGRAM OPTIONS IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE MILWAUKEE COUNTY OFFICE FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES AND WAUKESHA PARKS, RECREATION & FORESTRY DEPARTMENT. EACH CAMP PROVIDES QUALITY RECREATIONAL PROGRAMMING WITH OPPORTUNITIES FOR SOCIAL INTERACTION, SELF-EXPRESSION, COMMUNITY OUTINGS AND A VARIETY OF DAILY ACTIVITIES, WHILE OUR CARING STAFF TEND TO CAMPERS' MEDICAL AND PERSONAL CARES. 695 INDIVIDUALS WERE SERVED IN THESE PROGRAMS DURING THE YEAR.
