THE MISSION OF INTERFAITH CAREGIVERS OF WASHINGTON COUNTY IS TO "CONNECT SENIORS WITH CARING VOLUNTEERS." VOLUNTEERS LEND A CARING AND COMPASSIONATE "HELPING HAND" WITH ELDER ASSISTANCE AND TRANSPORTATION. OUR VISION IS THAT ALL OF WASHINGTON COUNTY'S MOST FRAIL AND ELDERLY CITIZENS WILL HAVE ACCESS TO RESOURCES NECESSARY TO MAINTAIN INDEPENDENCE.
HEALTHY AGING IN PLACE - SENIOR ASSISTANCE INTERFAITH FOCUSES ON REMOVING THE BARRIERS TO INDEPENDENCE FOR SENIORS BY PROVIDING VOLUNTEER ASSISTANCE WITH TASKS AROUND THE HOME THAT BECOME MORE DIFFICULT WITH AGE. IN 2019, WE SHIFTED FROM INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEER ASSISTANCE TO PRIMARILY OFFERING HELP FROM VOLUNTEER GROUPS. THESE GROUPS HELP WITH REQUESTS FOR SPRING/FALL YARD CLEAN-UP, SPRING/FALL HOUSECLEANING AND HELP WITH SMALL HOME REPAIR INSIDE AND OUT. WE ALSO OFFER VOLUNTEER COMPANIONSHIP AND A CANINE CAREGIVERS - COMPANIONSHIP VISITS WITH A VOLUNTEER AND CERTIFIED THERAPY DOG. VOLUNTEERS ALSO OFFER KINDNESS CALLS - WELL CHECK PHONE CALLS MADE TO ISOLATED SENIORS CHECKING ON HEALTH & WELL- BEING. VOLUNTEERS ALSO PROVIDE FOOD & ESSENTIAL DELIVERY FROM GROCERY STORES AND FOOD PANTRY. VOLUNTEERS ALSO DELIVER MEALS ON WHEELS AND DELIVER FOOD STOCK BOXES FROM THE FOOD PANTRY. IN 2019, 5,343 SERVICES WERE PROVIDED WITH 6,165 VOLUNTEER HOURS.
HEALTHY AGING IN PLACE - SENIOR TRANSPORTATION INTERFAITH FOCUSES ON REMOVING THE BARRIERS TO INDEPENDENCE FOR SENIORS BY PROVIDING VOLUNTEER TRANSPORTATION FOR THOSE WITH LIMITED MEANS AND MOBILITY. RIDES ARE PROVIDED IN ONE OF INTERFAITH'S FLEET OF ACCESSIBLE VEHICLES OR IN A VOLUNTEER'S PERSONAL VEHICLE. THESE RIDES ARE A CRITICAL LINK FOR OUR FRAIL ELDERLY TO ACCESS SERVICES FOR NECESSARY HEALTHCARE, NUTRITION, WELLNESS AND SOCIALIZATION. TRANSPORT IS PROVIDED TO LOCATIONS BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF WASHINGTON COUNTY. IN 2019, 13,723 RIDES WERE PROVIDED TO NEARLY 300 UNIQUE SERVICE DESTINATIONS. VOLUNTEERS DROVE OVER 240,000 MILES AND PROVIDED 15,159 HOURS OF SERVICE.
H.E.L.P. CORNER (HEALTH EQUIPMENT LENDING PROGRAM) - A DURABLE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT LOAN PROGRAM OPERATED BY INTERFAITH STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS. H.E.L.P. CORNER ENSURES THAT CITIZENS OF WASHINGTON COUNTY HAVE ACCESS TO NECESSARY MEDICAL EQUIPMENT, INCLUDING WHEELCHAIRS, WALKERS, KNEE SCOOTERS, SHOWER CHAIRS, RAMPS, BED RAILS, ETC. IN 2019, OVER 1,500 PIECES OF EQUIPMENT WERE LOANED. VOLUNTEERS PROVIDED 1,643 HOURS OF SERVICE.
