STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS ARE DEDICATED TO PROVIDING A VARIETY OF SUPPORT, EDUCATION AND COUNSELING SERVICES, AIMED AT REUNIFYING FAMILIES THAT HAVE BEEN DIVIDED BY CRISIS AND ENRICHING FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS. PROGRAMS AND SERVICES OFFERED BY THE YOUTH AND FAMILY PROJECT, INC. ARE CONFIDENTIAL, FREE OF CHARGE, OR AVAILABLE FOR A MINIMAL FEE. FUNDING IS RECEIVED FROM TEH UNITED WAY, CHARITABLE FOUNDATIONS, COUNTY, STATE AND FEDERAL SOURCES, AND FROM CORPORATE AND PRIVATE DONORS. MEETING PEOPLE WHERE THEY'RE AT TO PROVIDE THE MOST EFFECTIVE, MEANINGFUL SERVICES TO PEOPLE SEEKING HELP FR
PARENTING AND FAMILY EDUCATION AND SUPPORT - PROVIDES 'FAMILY CORNER' SUPERVISED VISITATION AND SAFE EXCHANGE, WHEREIN TRAINED STAFF ENSURE SAFE AND HEALTHY CONTACT BETWEEN PARENTS AND CHILDREN IN A NURTURING, HOME-LIKE SETTING. ULTIMATELY, THIS PROGRAM WORKS TOWARD THE GOALS OF PROTECTING THE CHILD, PROMOTING HEALTHY PARENT-CHILD INTERACTION AND FACILITATING FAMILY REUNIFICATION. THE PROGRAM AREA ALSO PROVIDES PARENTING WHEN RELATIONSHIPS CHANGE, WHICH FOSTERS A COOPERATIVE SPIRIT AND NURTURING BEHAVIORS THAT WILL EMPOWER PARENTS TO SHIELD THEIR CHILDREN FROM PARENTAL CONFLICT.
HOMELESS AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT - FACILITATES 'GINGERBREAD HOUSE', A SEASONAL PROGRAM WHICH PROVIDES SUPPORT TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN THE COMMUNITY WHO DO NOT HAVE ADEQUATE RESOURCES TO MEET THEIR BASIC NEEDS OR CELEBRATE THE HOLIDAY SEASON. THROUGH MAY OF 2017, THE PROGRAM ALSO PROVIDED SUPPORTIVE HOUSING FOR THE HOMELESS.
COUNSELING AND YOUTH SERVICES - PROVIDES 'CROSSROADS YOUTH PROGRAM', FREE, SHORT-TERM COUNSELING TO YOUTH IN CRISIS AND THEIR FAMILIES. ADDITIONAL SERVICES OFFERED THROUGH THIS PROGRAM INCLUDE: EMERGENCY, SHORT-TERM SHELTER, EDUCATION, REFERRAL AND THE AVAILABILITY OF A 24-HOUR HELPLINE. THE PROGRAM AREA ALSO PROVIDES 'THE JUVENILE DETENTION PROGRAM', A PSYCHO- EDUCATIONAL GROUP THAT PROVIDES SUPPORT AND EDUCATION TO YOUTH WHO ARE CURRENTLY BEING HELD AT THE WASHINGTON COUNTY JUVENILE SECURE DETENTION FACILITY. PERTINENT TOPICS AND CORRESPONDING ACTIVITIES HELP YOUTH TO EXPAND THEIR AWARENESS OF SELF-CARE, SOCIAL CONCERNS, ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES AND COMMUNITY RESOURCES.
