Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE MISSION OF THE FOUNDATION IS TO ENCOURAGE, PROMOTE AND SUPPORT POSITIVE EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES FOR STUDENTS IN THE ALLENTOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT.
WITH A VISION FOR ENRICHED EDUCATION, THE ASD FOUNDATION ENCOURAGES, PROMOTES AND SUPPORTS POSITIVE EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES FOR STUDENTS IN THE ALLENTOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT. THE FOUNDATIONS VOLUNTEER BOARD OF DIRECTORS SEEKS INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTIONS, FOUNDATION GRANTS, CONDUIT GIFTS, AND OTHER FUNDING SUCH AS EITC CORPORATE CONTRIBUTIONS FOR PROGRAMS THAT PROMOTE EXCELLENCE WHILE RECOGNIZING THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF ALLENTOWNS 17000 STUDENTS AND 2100 EMPLOYEES. IN THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR, 97 VOLUNTEERS HELPED KINDERGARTNERS EVERY WEEK AS PART OF A VOLUNTEER READING PROGRAM. APPROXIMATELY 25,000 WAS AWARDED IN TEACHER INNOVATION GRANTS WHOSE INNOVATIVE IDEAS IMPACTED 3,553 STUDENTS. CONDUIT GIFTS TOTALED 470,000 AND WERE DESIGNATED FOR SCHOOL DISTRICT SUPPORT FOR WIFI SERVICES, CLASSROOM AND PLAYGROUND IMPROVEMENTS, A HOME MEAL PROGRAM AND MORE. DESPITE THE SHORTENED SCHOOL YEAR DUE TO THE PANDEMIC STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN NATIONAL HISTORY DAY, A LATIN DANCE COMPETITION, AND AN ALLENTOWN ADVENTURE ART PROGRAM.
ENDOWED, ANNUAL EXPENDABLE AND ONE-TIME SCHOLARSHIPS ARE FINANCIAL STIPENDS AWARDED BY THE ALLENTOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT FOUNDATION ASDF TO GRADUATING STUDENTS TO PAY FOR POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION. WHILE THE SCHOLARSHIP IS AWARDED TO THE STUDENT, THE FUNDS ARE PAID BY THE ASDF DIRECTLY TO THE POST-SECONDARY INSTITUTION TO BE CREDITED TO THE STUDENTS ACCOUNT. TO INSURE AWARDABILITY, NO MORE THAN TWO CRITERIA BEYOND HIGH SCHOOL DESIGNATION ARE USED IN DETERMINING SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS MAY BE SET. THE SELECTION PROCESS IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE BUILDING PRINCIPAL. WHILE DONORS MAY DETERMINE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA, DONORS MAY NOT BE INVOLVED IN THE SELECTION OF INDIVIDUAL SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS. THE ASDF NOR ITS BOARD MEMBERS MAY BE INVOLVED IN ANY SELECTION PROCESS. A MINIMUM OF 10,000 IN GIFTS IS REQUIRED FOR A CONTRIBUTION TO BE CONSIDERED AN ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP.
