Organizations Filed Purposes: The Junior League of Philadelphia, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

Located in Ardmore, PA, the Junior League Thrift Shop is the organization's largest fundraiser, selling gently used, quality merchandise (clothing and household items) donated by the membership and local community at affordable prices. As our largest source of revenue, the Thrift Shop supports much of our community and membership programming and provides volunteer opportunities to members.

The Apple a Day Healthy Living Initiative is the Junior League of Philadelphia, Inc.'s multi-tiered community initiative with the goal of creating a positive impact on the health and wellness of adults and children in the Greater Philadelphia area. Apple a Day programming encompasses both interactive educational curriculum and a focus on increasing the region's capacity to supply and distribute healthy food to families in need. The Apple a Day Healthy Living Initiative is the Junior League of Philadelphia's multi-tiered community initiative with the goal of creating a positive impact on the health and wellness of adults and children in the Greater Philadelphia area. Apple a Day programming encompasses both interactive educational curriculum and a focus on increasing the region's capacity to supply and distribute healthy food to families in need.The Junior Leagues' Kids in the Kitchen (KITK) Committee, which is supported by The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. and its member Leagues, empowers youth to make healthy lifestyle choices and help reverse the growth of childhood obesity and its associated health issues. Over 675 children in 17 schools participated in KITK programming during the 2018-2019 League year, serving over 4,000 healthy meals and snacks to participants.The Empowering You Health Fair Committee promotes healthy living awareness and provides empowering and comprehensive wellness education and activities to allow adults and children in the community to take charge of their health. The committee hosts two area health fairs annually, which provided health screenings and immunizations to over 600 community participants during the 2018-2019 League year.The Food to Families Committee lead and train volunteers in the monthly bagging day activities (bagging, boxing, harvesting) at The Share Food Program, Inc., a nonprofit organization serving a regional network of community organizations engaged in food distribution, education, and advocacy. During 2018-2019, the committee assisted in the bagging of more than 58,000 pounds of food to be distributed.The Junior League of Philadelphia also provides opportunities for its members to make a difference in a short time, through its "Done in a Day" (DIAD) volunteer opportunities building relationships with other volunteer organizations. DIAD events tie into the Apple a Day Healthy Living Initiative or the League's training mission.

As a training organization, a large portion of our revenue is spent on educating our membership. Trainings provided span a variety of topics including the fundamentals of leadership, improving communication, finance, fundraising techniques, strategic planning and development, and the League's Apple a Day Initiative. Trainings are conducted through small group workshops, committee experience, and all-member events. Additionally, selected leaders travel to locations across the country to participate in trainings offered by our parent organization, The Association of Junior Leagues International.
