Organizations Filed Purposes: To improve the quality of life of Hispanic and other families by empowering them to become more self-sufficient, while promoting intercultural understanding in the Lehigh Valley.

Basilio Huertas Senior Center. The Basilio Huertas Senior Center offers local seniors ages 60 and older resources to stay active and independent. Older adults receive a healthy breakfast and lunch; engage in social activities, health screenings and educational activities; and receive help navigating health care and human services.Community Empowerment Program for Adults. Using a case management approach, the Community Empowerment Program for Adults connects individuals and families in crisis with critical community resources. Clients also can work to achieve personal growth and financial independence through job readiness training and job placement. Community Empowerment Program for Students. Families with students at Broughal Middle School and Donegan Elementary School may access case management services designed to stabilize families by facilitating access to housing assistance, food, mental health services and medical services with the goal of increasing student attendance and decreasing discipline problems. Women, Infants and Children (WIC). Women, Infants and Children provides nutritional and supplemental dietary services to women, infants and children from conception through age five. Families receive individualized dietary counseling to ensure that mothers and their children have the tools to lead a healthy lifestyle. Hispanic Center Lehigh Valleys program emphasizes the health benefits of breastfeeding and early childhood education. Food Pantry. Once a month, families living in the 18015 zip code receive emergency food for three days. Hispanic Center Lehigh Valley strives to provide nutritious food options with a focus on fresh fruits, vegetables and meats. The Center uses a choice pantry model that allows participants to shop for items as opposed to pre-selected food. Families are encouraged to use case management services provided through the Community Empowerment Program.
