THE PARTNERSHIP FOR BETTER HEALTH CHAMPIONS AND INVESTS IN IDEAS, INITIATIVES, AND COLLABORATIONS THAT IMPROVE THE HEALTH OF THE PEOPLE AND COMMUNITIES IN OUR REGION.
THE PARTNERSHIP FOR BETTER HEALTH ("FOUNDATION") PROVIDES FUNDING FOR GRANTS AND INITIATIVES THAT SEEK TO ELIMINATE HEALTH DISPARITIES AND ADDRESS THE ROOTS OF HEALTH ISSUES, TOWARDS ENSURING THAT ALL PEOPLE HAVE THE CHANCE TO ENJOY HEALTHY LIVES. IN 2019-2020, THE FOUNDATION INVESTED A TOTAL OF $2,390,000 IN COMMUNITY GRANTS, INITIATIVES AND PROGRAM SERVICES. THESE GRANTS AND INITIATIVES FOCUS ON THREE PRIORITIES:1. BUILDING HEALTHY COMMUNITIES: WE SUPPORT DECISIONS, CONDITIONS AND SYSTEMS CHANGE EFFORTS THAT ENABLE PEOPLE TO LIVE HEALTHIER LIVES IN THEIR SCHOOLS, WORKPLACES, HOMES AND NEIGHBORHOODS. 2. ENSURING ACCESS FOR ALL: WE INVEST IN GRANTS AND INITIATIVES THAT INCREASE ACCESS TO MEDICAL, DENTAL AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR INDIVIDUALS THROUGHOUT OUR REGION, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO ARE MOST VULNERABLE TO POOR HEALTH. 3. STRENGTHENING HEALTH CAPACITIES: WE STRIVE TO ADVANCE THE ABILITY OF ORGANIZATIONS AND PARTNERS TO ENGAGE IN COMPREHENSIVE STRATEGIES THAT IMPROVE HEALTH. TOGETHER, WITH MANY OTHERS IN OUR REGION, WE SEEK TO FOSTER A VIBRANT CULTURE OF LEARNING, GROWTH AND COLLABORATION. THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED $1.45 MILLION IN COMMUNITY GRANTS TO OVER 50 ORGANIZATIONS, INCLUDING $335,000 TO BUILD HEALTHY COMMUNITIES, $1,029,000 TO ENSURE HEALTH ACCESS FOR ALL, AND $84,000 TO STRENGTHEN HEALTH CAPACITIES. AT THE ONSET OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE FOUNDATION MOBILIZED QUICKLY TO MAKE AN ADDITIONAL $630,000 AVAILABLE FOR 53 RAPID RESPONSE EMERGENCY GRANTS TO ASSIST NONPROFITS IN RESPONDING TO THE NOVEL CORONAVIRUS. THE EMERGENCY GRANTS MET A RANGE OF PRESSING NEEDS THAT INCLUDED HELPING EMERGENCY RESPONDERS REMAIN PREPARED AND PROTECTED, INCREASING ACCESS TO VIRTUAL HEALTH SERVICES, ASSISTING DISPLACED WORKERS, AND ENSURING SAFE CHILD CARE AND SHELTER ENVIRONMENTS. THE FOUNDATION CONTINUALLY STRIVES TO IDENTIFY COMMUNITY HEALTH NEEDS THAT ARE NOT CURRENTLY BEING ADDRESSED AND SPEARHEADS INITIATIVES TO FILL CRITICAL GAPS. THIS YEAR, OVER $139,000 WAS DEDICATED TO COLLABORATIVE INITIATIVES TO REDUCE HOMELESSNESS, AND RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT THE OPIOID EPIDEMIC AND NEED FOR FAMILY SUSTAINING WAGES. SIMULTANEOUSLY, THE FOUNDATION SEEKS TO DEVELOP THE INTERNAL CAPACITIES OF LOCAL NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS THROUGH ITS NONPROFIT TRAINING INSTITUTE AND ANNUAL MATCH MADNESS FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN.
